Why is my Nikko Blue Hydrangea pink?

I planted a Nikko Blue Hydrangea last spring. It grew a little but didn't bloom. I read that if I wanted it to be a darker blue I needed to make the soil more acid. I went to my nursery, (Down to Earth, where they have their own line of 100% natural fertilizers) and was instructed to buy something called Acid Mix 4-3-6. I fertilized my hydrangea as per the instructions on the box, but to my surprise my Nikko Blue is now not a deeper blue, but a dark pink!!! What happened???
