Endless Summer, Year 3...Only new growth

Last one for a while, just need to clarify.

My ES are at least 4 feet by 4 feet. Blooms are 8 inches or more. I've watered the bed a mere 5 times this summer because my auto system is off and only because a couple of plants get some afternoon sun that makes them wilt.

No stems survived the winter. I cut them all down to the ground at the end of May. All of the current blooms are from new wood/growth from the base of the plant. Current stems are at least 3/4" in diameter. They match my thumb.

If they hadn't bloomed in Year 2, they woulda been yanked. They have too prominent a position in my yard.

I expect they will bloom like this until November. Started mid/late-June.

My overwintering strategy is to cut them down to the ground in December. I will not protect nor even try to save the current stems.

No fuss, no mess.
