Japanese beetles

Okay, I am not a sprayer, but I think I'm going to cave because of these $!*@! beasts!

Normally I go around later in the evening when they're very slow moving (probably for their all day orgy and gorgefest...) and knock them into a jar of soapy water.

Problem this year is I planted a tree-form "Limelight" hydrangea (pee-gee type) in a pot, and the tree is taller than me and I can barely reach the top branches with my outstretched arms. Of course those nasty creatures are on the top branches ruining the leaves - BAH!

So, what can I spray the hydrangea foliage with to deal with the Japanese beetles? Is there anything I can use at this time of year, or do the sprays/whatever need to be applied before the beetles arrive? DH puts down the Grub-X stuff on the lawn, so that's already taken care of (that actually seems to have helped, I am getting fewer beetles over the last couple years).
