Blue hydrangeas turning a deep green color...

I have 2 hydrangeas planted in urns. I was planning on planting them in the ground in the fall. When I got them in May they were blooming bright blue blossoms. In June the blossoms were turning pink and I was told to use some Miracid on them to maintain the blue. I followed the instructions on the Miracid container. Since then the blooms have all turned a deep green color. I have never had hydrangeas before and didn't know what I could do for them. Is turning deep green normal? Also, when I first got them, I had them in too much sun and the leaves became slightly burnt. I moved them quickly to a location with more shade and haven't noticed any new burn marks.

Like I said, I really don't know anything about hydrangeas. In short, my husband thinks they are pot bound and need to be planted in the ground immediately. I wasn't sure what to do. Any recommendations? Did I kill them?
