I despise creeping charlie. It sends me into digging fits of rage...digging up established perennials just to eradicate the area of CC. HOWEVER, you can only get to the CC if you get get past all of the wild strawberries...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! *LOL* When I first moved in 2.5 years ago I saw the little yellow flowers and tiny red berries and said, "awwww, isn't that cute". Ahem.... As for "real" stuff that I planted... Pink primroses..pretty when they flower but spread like crazy and look like crap most of the time. Lambs ear is pretty crazy, I have it growing MANY feet from where it started. I didn't plant it but I left it when I moved in and not IT'S moving in! Still, I love the fuzzy leaves. I have sweet autumn clematis eeeeverywhere. I love my huge "planned" vines of it that I transplanted but WOW, the seedlings are outta control and you can't ever get the whole root. I, too, have lemon balm, mint and ribbon grass. They get huge and rambling but I haven't had much problem with digging it up where I don't want it. The mint actually makes me laugh because I can't BELIEVE where it'll pop up! hehe

What a glorious harvest that you have! That's a huge tomato ... do the extra large ones like that taste as good as the regular-sized ones? Pictures just a tiny bit hung over the right edge ... but when I slid the slider across ... I got an ad ... so I only did it once. Last year I took a dozen or so ears of corn to the churches on one Sunday, and figured that there'd be a great harvest the next week. There were dozens of ears ... strewn on the ground ... with a bit chewed on each. I made the mistake of counting - 12 dozen! Corn out in tassel, this year ... should ask the landlord if he has a gun that I can borrow to cramp the coons' syle. Beans something of a disappointment - got a few two weeks ago, some last weekend, but noticed that there were few flowers, and not many ripening now. Last year I had large pickings for about three weeks. Maybe the lack of rain (after an overabundance in the spring) may be the main reason. Looks like a good crop of tomatoes coming. I may be fairly well preserved in body ... but not in the canning line ... but I freeze some beans, peas, etc. Oh - the peas were a disappointment - planted a fairly large number, but only about a half dozen plants deigned to make an appearance. Well the more the employees are not able to provide the service needed, the more a one of the bigger arguments against a modified flat tax or simplified tax code (fewer employees needed so jobs would be lost) goes away. I had a problem where the IRS accepted the income, including an IRA distribution from my dad's estate, but didn't recognize the withholding on that same IRA distribution. As a result, they sent us a letter saying we owed additional tax payment. We checked the return -- all the amounts and forms were there and we were owed a refund. DH tried to call multiple times and I tried to call. DH wrote a letter and mailed it in to explain, line by line, where the error was and that we were owed a refund. No reply -- just more letters asking us to pay more and adding interest. Tried calling again (some of these resulted in disconnects also). Never got through to anyone. Sent a note to the attorney who helped me with my dad's estate to ask about it. She said it took time and to give it one more round. Contacted my siblings (who had the same attorney prepare the same type of returns) and verified that neither of them had a problem with their returns -- I was the only lucky one. Then heard from the IRS again -- another letter saying we owed the additional payment with more interest and a penalty. We had an appointment with the same attorney to sign new wills soon thereafter. When we met with her, she had us sign an amended return for the IRA to try to get the full amount of the withholding refunded there and then had us pay the additional taxes, interest and penalty (added about $35) on our personal return just to clear the whole thing before adding more interest or penalties. Well, we haven't gotten demands for more money, but they haven't sent the refund either. This on our 2014 returns and has been going on for months -- and there's no way to reach anyone to get our refund.
