Alison, I'm checking that ebony flower every day so I don't miss the seeds. Funny, it's the only ebony one. How come only one flower on it though? Any ideas how to get more than one flower after I get the seeds from this one? I love the painted tongue too. Trying to get the seeds from those too. I want lots of them next year. I love gazania too, but those rabbits just won't leave them alone no matter where I plant them, they find them. PM2 The candy lily where WS 3 years ago and just started to bloom Aug 6. Funny to cause I was going to move the fans this fall to a different location because they weren't blooming and was so surprised to see the flower stems full of buds show up all but over night. They are planted in an area that gets morning sun and then sun again later in the afternoon. They will get more sun after a big oak tree is taken down. These are all the same color though I know they come in different colors. Hoping for seeds. I'm pretty sure they can grow in full sun to part shade. Mine are in part shade. Fran

Should have seeds from all the zinnias for trades next month Strouper2, zinnias are an annual for me. I get very reseeds from any of my plants as I heavily mulch with bark mulch to keep the weeds down and moisture in the beds. We have a permanent stage 2 water ban in my town, water every other day and if we get caught on the wrong day watering, it's a heafty $100 fine. So I do everything to keep the moisture in the ground for my plants. I wouldn't be surprised though, if i didn't have a heavy mulch, that at least a few of the zinnia seeds would self sow. Fran

Thank you, everyone, for your nice comments. Jadie-Berry Smoothie is a more intense pink in spring and Georgia Plum is truly plum. GP is also pretty small in size. Both glow in the garden and are worth having, IMHO. GP packs quite a whollop of color into its little size. They both age differently (color wise) as well. Berry smoothie gets almost a grape color to it with very veiny leaves. DGregory-Ophir is quite a show stopper in the spring, but unfortunately it does go green in the summer. Still an attractive hosta, though and well worth growing. Mine is young yet. I've seen pics of mature ones and it's pretty amazing when it grows up. Dark Star is definitely worth growing. It's truly beautiful, which is why (I think) a lot of people have it. It gets darker in color later in the season, hence the name. Mocc-I think your boat with hostas idea sounds awesome! It could be such a focal point. Make sure to post pics if you actually decide to do it. I'd love to see how it turns out.

Hmmm, you are meticulous in the care of your garden. It looks very well loved and appreciated, with a hands on approach. I wish I had the ability to make my garden look that good.

Later today I'll try to do a set of "school pictures" for my container hosta, since we could end up with some inclement weather in a day or so. Just documenting how they look, like you have done so well.

Looks like your garden is all set. The hostas are far enough apart to give you many years,before they touch each other. My garden looks like a jungle,in comparison. Good job! Phil

Big blue near bird bath POWDER BLUE, it hasn't many leaves but it exploded in height this year.. Absolute last plant that came up this year..thought it was a goner..

The 5th down closeup is Abiqua Moonbeam..

The three white centered are Great Expectations.. this year the medium green color in them just never showed off like it did last year... I did get a new eye on nearly every plant though.

I really do like my garden setup, although I admit when i see some of the rolling hilly timber gardens, a bit of jealousy does arise !

Mainly i wanted to have a thick roll of color down the edges of the yard... like someone squeezed a giant tube of bright plant colored paints into a waist high wall !
