Comments (13)@Val... yeah I agree don't buy a box store hosta... look for the cheapest thing from Hallsons or Naylor Creek and put it there... and yes a bleach/water solution in 1/10 will remove southern blight from the soil... I used it two years ago to save a Blue Cadet that was rotting at the crown... I actually dug up the hosta... cleaned its root with water... then dipped in in the solution...let it set for a minute.. then rinsed it off and replanted it in a pot... I used the rest of my bleach solution to water the ground where it was rotting and later that year planted a High Society there which would be flourishing if it wasn't for the maple roots =) John...See MoreWhat can I do about flies?
Comments (9)great.. i was worried you would be offended.. i am a stay at home.. and i recall all the days of worrying.. so i just started letting the crumb munchers eat dirt.. so they would get over all those bad things that MIGHT be in the dirt.. lol ... we have chuckled over the years.. with all the friends kids.. so sheltered on all this stuff.. and how they get sick 3 or 4 times per year.. and ours barely ever.. until some plague hits the school type of thing ... your kids will live and be healthier for having played outside.. if you can just not worry about it all ... unfortunately.. mine are now addicted to the laptops.. and i cant barely get them out of the house ... and BTW ... mine can walk on a blacktop in 100 degrees.. for the callouses on their feet .. i dont know what your whole shoe thing is all about ... its funny to watch their friends trying to follow them up the driveway.. hopping from foot to foot.. while mine just plod on ... i am going to bet.. a vast majority of the problem is the garbage can ... try placing it somewhere else ... and see if the problem doesnt decrease substantially ... i have 5 acres.. i could make the problem get real far way .. i suppose you are city bound.. and limited to what you can do with the garbage.. ==>>>> one thing for sure.. a tight fitting cover.. will prevent flies from getting in.. to lay the eggs.. take care ken...See MoreNEW: dozen dozen tomato swap
Comments (117)First off, I think it is great what you are doing for Grovespirit and by all means send me an address. Secondly, I apologize for the mix up on sending two of yours back DirtDiggin. Now to get you squared away, I understand that a player is sending you Marianna's Peace, if not I can send you some. Siberia I do not have extra nor Stump of the World. I sent you extra CP because you wanted to try Ted's. Since Ron did not send the pastes, I substituted different CP seeds from different growers (Dan's, mine, trades). I then added Siberian, Roma and Sub Arctic Plenty because of there not being any SIBERIA. I then added what I thought were extras; Caro Rich and Yellow Perfection from Seeds of Change. That makes six of your request. That equals 15 if I count right, plus two of yours were mistakenly added. So did you get 17 or...??? Not counting yours..? Players may be able to help with what you are missing....please keep me informed. I just redid my inventory list and when I get that updated, I will send my page link and you can pick from a BIG list of extras I have. By the way, players who sent only a Dozen Dozen received more back. I did not sort players by how many packs sent...giving is just that-giving. If you got the list of what every player received...you would note that many got way more than they sent and that I certainly sent out...well let's just say that I didn't even keep track but I did send many packs that I took in trade to fill in the niches and even sent some 45TH Parallel packs of fresh seed from growouts. If you got my BearClaw you got the second place seeds from the contest over in I Dig :) Just let me know what I can do to make it right....See More2 dozen roses and a block of cheese...
Comments (3)Twice during our long marriage, I have found that DH kept and framed some note of encouragement I wrote him. They are in small frames and he keeps them on his desk or a bookcase. It's nice to feel appreciated, and I agree that buying you a food he doesn't like himself rates high on the thoughtful mate scale. Along that line, DH once bought me a book of cat photos when I was feeling low, and he doesn't like cats....See Moreangelawilliamson
