I am very interested in this discussion because since 20 years or so I have possibly Hadspen Blue, Blue Cadet and/or Halcyon. There are differences in leave shape (size?), flower color and bloom time. First, do you believe what the Hosta Library says about Blue Cadet, that height is 12 inches (Hadspen Blue 18), leaf size is 2x2 inches (HB 5x3), blooms pale lavender in June (HB in July almost white)? That already would decide if you have Blue Cadet. Mickfield has Blue Cadet the size of Hadspen Blue. NH Hosta has bloom time mid July. Another option is Halcyon, per Hosta Library is 18 in tall, 8x5 leaf, blooms pale lavender in July. I have 5 nice size clumps blooming profusely with nice mid lavender flowers, could be Halcyon, though the leaves are only 5-6 in long. Or Blue Cadet per NH Hostas. Then I have several plants with very blue leaves in May which do not show any sign of developing flower stalks yet, what are those? Perhaps some of mine are seedlings. Bernd

Hi Cruz, Welcome to the forum! Thank you for the kind words. You'll find lots of friendly, knowledgeable people on this forum who love to share what they've learned, and who also love to contribute to each others' addictions--consider yourself warned. You're in Dade, so we're neighbors. I choose to identify my county because our state is so large--Tallahassee is something like 400 miles away, right? Anyway, plumeria are pretty easy where we live. They're not fussy, so all we have to do is protect them from the occasional winter cold front, and feed and water them when they're growing. To answer your question, I do not use epsom salts. However, some on here do use them at the beginning of the season. I think it depends on the growing conditions in each grower's backyard. Epsom salts provide magnesium and sulfur, and I have no indication that my plants are deficient in either of those particular minerals. I continuously feed (IOW, at every watering), low dosages of Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro 9-3-6, along with Dyna-Gro ProteKt 0-0-3 and Super Thrive. Because the two fertilizers provide full-spectrum nutrition (NPK + all micronutrients), I don't ever worry that I have a deficiency in any one particular nutrient. Great stuff! I also foliar feed at extremely low dosages the same with Spray-N-Grow added. This is NOT necessary but I do it because it gives me an excuse to hang out near my trees, truth be told. (I knew winter was good for something!) Is that a trillium at the top! I can't remember the last time I saw a trillium!I am sorry to hear that Al has pain, I have suffered from hip/joint pain for several years, the doctors have told me the best treatment is 'keep moving' grrrr, sometimes it is very tough to do. The plants are loving it, but it sure makes it unpleasant outside (muggy, mosquitos and soggy) That Brug is beautiful! Even if they didn't have flowers My elephant ears hit the ground running too, all this water really perked them up. I cannot believe the size of the leaf on one of them (Is it my imagination or are those leafs still growing?!?!)
