Pee Gee Hydrangea question. Please help

Hi I just last week went out and bought a Pee gee hydrangea that I have planted in my front yard here in the san fransisco bay area. This location get some hot afternoon sun in the summer months. I read that the PG can take afternoon sun so I planted it there. Its been in the ground for about 5 days now and 1 of these days was hotter than normal so I saw the leaves wilt. After some watering and when the sun went down it perked up again. As I look at it today I see that some of the leaves are dry and crisp. My question is do you think this was because of the 1 very hot day we had or it is getting too much sun in the current location and needs to be moved or did it just get shocked from transplating and that I should leave it in its current spot. I spent good money on it so I am quite worried. please help. Thanks
