Well.... Looks like the majority of them are a very pale lilac with a light purple throat but I could have sworn that the first one was white with a light purple throat... ( I'm letting a seed pod develop on that one! ) It sure is an interesting flower... They start to open around 5 PM then stay open till about 8 AM... Even the small, 5 or 6 inches high, plants are developing flower buds... When they're open they resemble swirly five pointed stars... Every last one of them stands straight up at the top of the plant... I half expected them to be much larger though... These are only about 2 inches across and about four inches long ( not counting the green )... But then again they may be smaller because they don't get full sun... As for the scent of the flowers... Well it's hard to say, my sniffer isn't working properly ( LOL )... Although I don't think anything can top the scent of an Aphrodite Hosta in full bloom... Rita

Jasmine - What a great deal you got on those pots! WooHoo! Also, thanks for the compliment on the seed packets. You have no idea the countless hours that went in to me folding paper until I found the perfect design! LOL! Here's how you do it: 1. Cut a piece of notebook paper in fourths. Each piece of ruled paper will become the seed packets. I normally just crease it it half both directions and tear along the creased line. 2. Use the short side of the paper as the top. (There are two short sides and two long sides, like any rectangle would have.) I also like to use the red line that goes down the page to the inside of the packet, so that would be facing you right now. Bring the top left corner and top right corner down and in to the top middle part of the paper where both points meet. Where they meet, is where you'll crease the top left and top right side of the paper. It should look like a point at the top that forms a triangular shape at the top of the paper, like the point on an arrow. 3. Bring the bottom of the paper up until it meets the bottom of the triangular shape and crease it there. 4. Bring the left side in to the center of the paper and crease it there. (The center is easily visible by the line that was made in the middle of the top triangle shape you already made. 5. Do the same thing to the right side bringing it also into the center and creasing it. 6. Bring the bottom up to where the the left side and right side straight lines end. 7. Fold the top flap down inside the bottom flap you just brought up to "seal" the envelope. It really is an amazingly simple mini seed packet that used lightweight, ordinary notebook paper. All I do is open up the right side (because I'm right-handed), pour the seeds in and fold it right back up. One thing I would highly recommend is writing on the ruled lines on the front of the packet BEFORE filling with seeds. It's that simple. I've seen a lot of origami packets that had to use the heavier, bulkier paper to stay firm and like a good packet, but this isn't one of them. I've also seen that if even one little line is not perfectly creased, the packets looks "off", but this isn't one of them, either. It's a very forgiving design that hardly shows a flaw even when my kids make them! I hope others will try to make them. If I can scan each image along the way, then I'll try to make another post with pictures. I blow these out while I'm watching TV without ever cutting or gluing paper. I can make over a hundred in no time at all. Just the first ones you make take a little longer as you get used to it, then you fly right through them! Blessings, Angela

What I did may not work so well for you, with the three dogs, but-- I usually just made a point of only doing errands during showings unless I hadn't had a showing in awhile. And during showings, I meandered at the grocery store, the hardware store, the library, or wherever. There were a few very rare times when I would wait until the people showed up... but my trick for that was to be doing things in the front room so I could see them pull up, and then zip out the back way and go for a short walk. They never knew I was there. There were also a few times when I knew that I wasn't going to be able to go out during the time block, and I let them know that I was going to be home when they were setting up the appointment. My own personal opinion is that yeah, it's good to be gone, but there are times when it may not be doable. I'm a sufficiently understanding person that as a buyer, it wouldn't kill your chances with me. And it didn't ruin things with the buyer of my last place-- he and his agent arrived 15 minutes early and kept me for about 10 minutes with questions. And then they came back four hours later, without an appointment or a call, to take a second look and ask more questions. It all worked out fine in the end.

there is a plant propogation book i have wherein the author describes his own mist system. that author has a large black coil of hose in the roof of his greenhouse so that water can be heated before reaching the mist nozzles. that's at least one vote for using warm water and keeping the cuttings reasonably warm as they root. just thought i would toss that in! lol. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: mosaic z8 LA (My Page) on Sun, May 11, 03 at 11:59 With such a setup you could probably root roses under mist all winter here in Louisiana. I bought this particular timer though because when I looked at it my mind said "Ah! Mist!" (heh), even though the reason I bought it at the time was to keep a new patch of zoysia sod watered until it rooted in. My batteries did last all season last year, but it was only opening that valve 4x a day for 3 weeks, and then 1x every 4 days for a couple of months. And even though I had a pressure regulator on there, I kept having a problem with the heads blowing off! (Their drippers work perfectly by the way so it's nothing against the company) I ordered foggers from Misty Mate this year and they put out a super fine fog. Perfect for propagation. They are a litte more expensive than the ones from Dripworks but worth it. And if you ask they will ship the misting heads for $1.50. I went to HD and bought a 10-24 tap and drill set (3.00) and drilled holes in my 1/2" cvpvc and the heads just screwed right in! I bought a Melnor timer at HD for $39 and it has 1 minute spray options so I've got it set for 1 minute every 10 minutes. Can't remember the model number but it's not the one on the HD website. I hope to finish my new propagation box soon. I built one on a stand this year so I can move it around easily. Wouldn't you know, HD has plastic sheeting made just for greenhouses that I used! It's not the real thick heavy stuff either. It's only 4mil and is crystal clear see-thru! Hopefully I'll be finished this week!
