Soil to hydro medium question

To preface this post, I have a good size planting area outside in addition to a number of 6 gallon pots... AND I know summer is just around the corner but, I want to grow a pepper plant indoors to eliminate the risk of cross pollination. IÂd like to collect a bunch of "true" seeds. I know my power bill will be far more than than the cost of a fresh package of seed but, I was extreemly happy with the product produced by this plant.

IÂve managed to get one Orange Habanero to sprout out of my last batch of seeds. It is now growing in a potting mix / perlite combination.

My question is how would I transplant this to a hydro grow medium? IÂve found a small self contained ebb and flow system (2Â x 2Â) that would accommodate the full grown plant. I also have a 400W HID system for light (balast good for both MH and HDS).

Also, what type of medium should I transplant to? Am I better off just replanting into a soil pot under my light (I know heresy!)?

Any guidance / opinions would be appreciated.

Bill
