roseyd - 'Roseum' is a cultivar of Schizophragma hydrangeoides which is similar to Hydrangea anomola subsp. petiolaris but is not a true Hydrangea. It is commonly, but incorrectly, called pink hydrangea vine. This, like the Hydrangea anomola subsp. petiolaris I mentioned before, is a totally hardy deciduous vine. It will not grow successfully indoors. It climbs by aerial rootlets, not by twining or tendrils. A 6 inch pot is far too small for this thing. In the wild it grows up trees and can reach 30 feet or more and it will also grow on walls. I suggest you research it under its scientific name where you will find plenty of information about looking after it. As I suggested before you should harden it off and get it outside asap. If you decide to buy any more vines, or any plant for that matter, I would highly recommend looking them up by their scientific names before purchase as I believe your lack of success is not down to lack of love and attention but to not being familiar enough with their needs to give the right care. Or go onto the relevant GW forum for the plant you are contemplating and ask for some tips from others' experience. Hi Jess - We have a Kyushu tree-form that was attempting to revert to their original bush nature (sprouted little growths on trunk). I was instructed to shave them off to redirect the energies back up. I thought that PGs are sluggish in breaking dormancy in our zone - warm sunny days will help shake it up from sluggishness ... paniculatas need a fair amount of sun. This was a long cold Winter past, wait a while more & see - mean time, find your (warranty) receipts. Good luck!

PeeGee Hydrangeas can take full sun, even in the South. In fact, they NEED at LEAST 5 hours of full sun. I would suggest never using Miracle Gro on a shrub (or anything for that matter) that is planted in the ground. Use an organic fertilizer for perennials, trees and shrub beds. Never fertilize in extreme heat, when a plant is very dry or stressed in any manner. Chemical fertilizers, like Miracle Gro, will build up around your plants. The molecules are held together with salts that, when built up, will eventually burn your plants. These fertilizers also tend to make plants shoot leggy growth that is not cold tolerant, so never fertilize after August 1st. Use a fertilizer that is organic. I am not a purist about organic fertilizers - I use Miracle Gro in all of my containers (pots, flower boxes, etc.) that contain annuals. In fact, I use it every time I water them. Use a product like Bumper Crop, Pay Dirt, or composted manure.

Thank you guyground, luis, and springwood... I will try tip pruning a little earlier next year... I am glad to know about Tardiva being a late bloomer.... My VS gets about 3 hours of sun, which is probably like getting 4 or 5 hours in a zone 6.. Anyway, it's enough to produce lots of blooms which look good for about 2 weeks before starting to get brown. But maybe not next year!
