Full StoryOn the Nikko Blue... I got it about 4 years ago as a small potted plant. Potted it up, and it has totally taken off. However, past 2-3 years it had no flowers at all, even though plants was otherwise very healthy.
I never pruned the plant or have repotted it since, and suddenly this year, I can see it has the beginnings of mopheads. I wonder why for 2 years it had no flowers, but this year it did? Also, can anyone tell me about when I should expect mopheads to fully emerge?
On Anabelle Arborescense, I bought it as a small quart-sized plant last year. This spring, it is much larger, and this will be my first year with flowers with it. I can see the beginnings of mopheads. Will these mopheads take about the same length of time to emerge as the Nikko Blue? And do I recall that with A.A., the mopheads (while they will dry and turn brown), can last much longer on this plant...through the Fall? Or should I deadhead spent mopheads...it won't produce more this year will it??
