I got the balance of my Burgess order, so I figured I'd follow up. It seems to be a definite "some things are better than others" type of place, so hopefully this will help someone figure out what is most worth it: Rose bushes and peony trees (bare root) came looking quite decent, and all of them have continued to be alive in my garden. A few have been slow to leaf out, but nothing arrived dead or rotted, and everything seems to be getting along now. Humming bird vines arrived looking like sticks - they were alive, but sticks. All are still alive, and one is leafing out, so, OK. The things are supposed to be impossible to kill, so I'm hopeful. Clematis came as cute little spider-looking root nodes. Fairly fresh looking. They have all sprouted up nicely. Honesuckle vines looked like a bit of a mess when they arrived - it was hard to tell what was supposed to be planted, what was root vs. vine, etc. I've got nothing out of those yet, and for all I know I planted the darn things upside down. Day lilies came as nice little root bunches, and all are sprouting up nicely now. The bare root trees I had received earlier all still appear to be alive (they're flexible and show green if you scratch the bark), but not a one has leafed out yet. The little potted lemon and lime trees I got came looking good, but the lime was suffering such a mineral deficiency I'm still not sure it will make it. Maybe 3 years from now I'll have a stand of nice little trees started for next to nothing and I'll pat myself on the back, but I'm not awfully impressed on the tree front just yet. Overall I'm still giving Burgess a solid C. I'd never accept it if I'd paid anything approaching a usual nursery price for what I got, but overall I think I got what I paid for.

I have tried many as we are working our way through mudroom/bathroom/kitchen/bathroom/bathroom/etc.. I have had good luck using Home Depot's online site, with which I feel comfortable because I can resolve problems locally. We have ordered a bunch of Daltile of various types, faucets, and just recently a Kohler toilet with no issues. Shipping has been quick and items have arrived safely either to my home or the store. I have also used Wayfair.com although they are catch-as-catch-can for plumbing and tile -- some things they just don't carry. However, they have great customer service. After ordering a lot of various items I got an e-mail out of the blue from a sales person who identified herself as my "renovation consultant." I tested her by asking about a medicine cabinet installation kit that wasn't on their website although the cabinets were. She tracked it down and I got it in a few days. Other minor issues have also been resolved quickly, such as my ordering bathroom sinks in the wrong color by accident -- I had the replacement sinks even before they could have received the ones I sent back, no restocking charge, and they even restored my rewards points. They are based in New England so shipping has been very quick for me in Maine but shouldn't be bad to Florida.

I had a very positive experience with Wayfair. I recently ordered 3 boxes of stone/glass mosaic tile ($31/sq ft). It was the kind on paper rather than mesh. It was excellent quality, but the same color glass tile was falling off all of the sheets. I called Wayfair with the intent on either returning it or exchanging it. I knew we could still install it and just hand set the fallen tiles, but I wasn't thrilled about the damage given how much we paid. They issued me an immediate refund and said I could keep the tile! They explained that since it arrived damaged, they did not want to inconvenience me with having to ship it back. Not sure if this is how they handle all damaged products, but I decided to order a different tile from them and it's lovely. Again, very good quality. And I'm going to find somewhere in the house to use the damaged tile...since it was free!

Heirloom roes is great from what I've heard. I haven't ordered from them in a while since there prices went up, but from what I've read on here there roses have actually gotten a little bigger as far as bands go, but when they included shipping in there price, it was to much for me. Heirlooms roses always grew well for me though. I have never ordered from David Austin directly, so someone else would have to answer you on that. I would also like to recommend High Country, Longago roses, Burlington Roses, Roses Unlimited. Pam at Angel Gardens is great to deal with, and Rogue Valley is great for the rare roses, if you looking for those..they can't be beat for the harder to find roses, but shipping is high for them for me, and even though they fix them, they do have some ID issues sometimes. If there is something you are looking for and its hard to find and they carry it, order from them. There bands are really healthy. If you are looking for grafted roses I don't order those to much anymore so I can't help you to much there. I ordered along time ago from J&P and received healthy grafted roses. They are said to have issues to, but I never had any. I've heard Hortico is great from on here but have no personnel experience. As always it helps to know where you live as well. It's best to go ahead and add it to your name up top, so it's always there.
