I couldn't agree more about enjoying your hostas over a good glass of wine while MY husband cooks supper. SHHH don't tell him I said that.

Babka, the stands your big pots sit on look oriental too. Did you get them in Japan?

I'd like to see one in detail, up close or without the plant on it. They sure do a fine job of featuring a special plant.

My brother has a friend who builds things from cypress, down near New Orleans. He is going to build us three chairs for starters, and now I'm thinking I'd like a few plant stands for larger pots.

Been all around Asia, but not Japan. Those stands are 2"x8" redwood boards sitting on top of 2"x4". Not fancy.

Forgot to ID them. Irawon..Yes! Good guesses! El Nino, Blue Ivory and the yellow edged one is Autumn Frost. Others are Grand Tiara, Pineapple Upsidedown Cake, Invincible, Queen of the Seas, Sagae, Sweet Home Chicago, and just opening up at the far left is Fire and Ice.

The only hosta I don't have that you have is Pineapple Upsidedown Cake. I could have sworn your Grand Tiara was Luna Moth. I will examine mine more closely when they unfurl. Thanks for posting those lovely pictures. I admire how prestine your hostas look. They obviously appreciate the care they have been given.

The temple and the carved elephant look Indonesian (???) I have a hand carved elephant from Bali. No emelishments; just an elephant, but a cherished possession.

How in the world are you going to fit that perogue in that room?

The spirit house and elephant are Thai. Been to magical Bali several times, and I too, treasure every souvenir. They guard the hostas. ;-) No boats.

JonnyB, the pirogue is down heah, deep south, not northern Cal. I think pots are the way to go too. Babka, your arrangement is perfect like the rest of it. It is very Zen, or how I think of Zen.

You can go to your hosta enclosure and meditate, calm yourself, and appreciate the stillness. To me that is a great solution, avoiding the distractions everywhere in the general environment outside this hosta temple.

I had to google "barcalounger" -- I'd never heard that word in my life! :) But your hosta are absolutely wonderful. One of the best collections of potted hosta that I've seen. I also love the Asian feel of your garden. Very serene.

What a beautiful collection of hosta. I'm still surprised that you can grow them in zone 9 so successfully.

Ah but the Empress could rule from that bench in the middle of the tea house, looking down on the commoners!

That looks like the perfect Empress Wu planter. I'd consider it if she came with wide ripply white edges, and at least 3 shades of green, and was slug/snail resistant. For that I would probably demolish my house and live in a tent! Where is that pic taken?

OMG!!! I copied that picture and am emailing it to my DH, who is watching the hosta arrive one after the other, and the pots proliferating like mad.
