I hear you loud and clear!! I just found new growth on my vitellinoides and clemensorium - two of my favorite hoyas that haven't done anything but maintain since I got them in July. I keep climping up on my kitchen table so that I can look at my new leaves with out bumping my plants. There is just nothing more devastating than accidently knocking off new growth while trying to get a closer look. I also found several new shoots on my finlaysonii that I have hanging in my bathroom east facing window! I totally understand my kids' need to grab and check the presents under the tree - obsessively.

Glad to hear that others are actively looking. I too envy those in more tropical climes, Montana is so unpredictable, I don't even put my plants outside in summer as we have had July blizzards.

Well Hi Gang & Happy New Year,

While I haven't yet noticed a change in the time of sunset getting a smidge later, I do see some new growth in Hoyas.

A beloved Krimson Queen has new growth on two branches, a no ID that I think is Numularioides has kept making small new growth since summer when I saved it from edge of death.

An Obscura I thought was dying has decided to re-grow. A P. Red Buttons has a clump of new leaves as does my Nicholsoniae.

On the down side, my Findlaysoniae bit the bust ;Go Hoyas!!!

Well, I guess I could be one of 'those' people, even though we did get a fly-by 28* inland flash. It only got to 35* right here where I was. I didn't hear about it until 10pm that night. It certainly hadn't been getting to those temps before! One night, might be a chance, but they should do okay. I was scurrying around late at night, trying to drag hoyas out of the tree! (I found the neatest thing, orginally bought for my mother on her farm, her barnyard light had gone out. A Craftsman Lighted ballcap. Where you point your head is where the light goes. Great for unwinding that goofy hoya in the tree...)

I, too am seeing new growth. And yes, it IS exciting. One of my maintaining ones who grows slow ANYway is popping some new leaves! It is great. I agree!

Cena, you really made me laugh. Usually when I "picture it" it is something that I should not be picturing, but the idea of a lighted ball cap is really funny. I would be doing the same thing. I use elanor's year round - I guess I am one of those "more is more" type of people. Anyway, I have never seen any ill effects and the jug says it is ok. I also found some new growth on my latifolia, and that plant has made me drool since I got it. I have a hard time imagining how leaves that big will be coming out. Boy, a winter low of 28....that is almost shorts weather here - we really suck it in when it hits 30 below. Makes me not want to leave the house, I have to pull the plants away from my well insulated windows in the heart of winter. :) Y ippi for spring.

Oh, Sara, in 25 years, I've only seen frost 6 times here. Never once snow, or sleet or even freezing rain. What rain? Thats right, it only rains in Winter and rainy season IS Winter. More than .5 inches of rain and we're gonna drowned or freeze to death at the very least... Don't EVEN ask us to drive!

Yep, thats pretty much shorts weather here too! Those Crazy Californians will wear shorts, sandles, and a winter jacket. Can't get them outta their shorts!

Today, we got up to 52! 52 in JANUARY!!! Yeehaw! I wear sweatshirts once winter hits and don't even bother to put on a coat unless it's well below freezing or there's quite a wind. Cena, the weather out there in California seems so bizarre to me. I lived near Lompoc back in the early '80s. On July 4th, my ex and I went to see the fireworks. Now, here in Nebraska, that's the time of year that one could walk around stark naked and still sport a serious sweat. But we had to wear our ski jackets to watch the fireworks, it was so chilly. SKI JACKETS, mind you!! Very weird!!

We had 50's here too today! Yippi, I think my grass is even looking green, but I won't really get my hopes up until the bush right by my front porch buds out. Come to think of it though my dog has been shedding.....could I dare to hope now? That is really funny about Californians driving in rain or even some snow, After our first snow fall, the shovel, cat litter or sand, sleeping bags and emergency winter travel kit gets packed into the cars.

I did find lots of others with new growth now that I am actively looking though...DH says it must be nice to have THAT much time on my hands. If he only knew! :)
