I was actually thinking about this today. I think it would be great to do a mail trade. I wonder how cuttings would handle being mailed.

I know mail carriers can be careless, but perhaps if wrapped to retain moisture as you described, and then shipped in a small priority mail box to protect it from being crushed, it could work.

I would love a 'Grayswood' and have in my garden 'Nigra', 'Ayesha' and 'Blue Bird'. I also have an oakleaf 'snowflake', but not sure if that would really work.

you can actually purchase 2" rooted cuttings from the link below, with a 6-plant min. costing $24.00 + s&h. that does not sound too bad. of course, it will be a couple years before these will flower.

hi all, i know i'm late[as usual] but hydranges should travel well if wrapped in wet paper towel then in a baggiew/ rubberband wrapped around all cuttings,Then in maybe newspaper where they won't bounce all over the box.then in a box of some sort.mailed priority mail maybe mailed out on mon. or tues. good luck! oh yeah ,you could send 'em to me this way,then i could tell ya'll if this is a good way to mail.LOL!!do let me know how this works for ya'll. molly
