TV Garden Shows

I was reading this thread from back in March, and it made me blue  I've noticed how few of the HGTV gardening shows are really about gardening.

Especially those shows where a magic wand (made of money) is waved and a crew of ten husky men (who are never introduced, shame on the producers) slaps a thousand dollars worth of plants into the ground in an hour!

And the zillion shows set in or near Los Angeles... a climate most of us will never see, with plants most of us will never keep alive.

I like "Gardening by the Yard" with Paul James the Gardener Guy, because

1. he has a dog and

2. he talks about shade gardens, and hostas, once in a while and

3. he's not in sunny California.

I really liked "Garden Diary" and "Gardener's Journal" but they are no more? Only reruns, and only during the summer?

Anyway, what's your favorite, and why? And has anyone ever seen a word about HVX on TV?
