The next one is a no ID. I got it from a local c+s grower from the markets. I did change the soil to a more free drainage mix and double checked when I brought it about her growing conditions. Since it was always in full sun I keep it in full sun. This plant is going well, and has a good amount of new growth. I water about once a week.

This kerrii albomarginata I only got about two weeks ago from a large department store. I made sure to pick the healthiest one, and changed the soil to a more free drainage one when I brought him home. He is also under a canopy and only gets a couple of hours of late afternoon sun. This guy is worrying me though. The last week I have seen some brown marks around the edges of lower leaves. They are not soft like rot, and the other leaves and stem seem healthy....

The second one is hoya carnosa, I believe. The fourth is compacta.

As for your first kerri, if you want, you can make cuttings now. I have made two lines on your pic where you can safely cut and pot up. Keep in mind that you have a peduncle on it that will eventually, if it has not already, produced flowers. Take care when potting it up, and the peduncle should be fine, although it may not produce flowers this go round.

I have no clue what could be wrong with your kerri albomarginata, sorry!

Hmm, looking again at your variegated kerri, some of my hoyas get those spots if they are getting too much sun. Kind of like how we get sunburns and freckles. Or it could just be minor leaf damage from transportation or something scraping against it. If the roots look good, then I really don't think you should worry too much. Don't hesitate to make another post if the spots progress!

Make sure you bring them all in if the temp falls below 10 c (50 f)! Other than that, the only advice I can give is below:

make sure your potting mix is very well draining. I use 1 part perlite (3/8 inch), 1 part orchid bark (3/8 inch) and 1 part pebble stone (3/8 inch). I have to water my more thirsty hoyas every few days in this mix, as it drains very well. My other hoyas that can require a bit of drought are watered once a week.

When watering, add a balanced liquid or water soluble fertilizer (I use Miracle Grow with an NPK ratio of 12:4:8 and contains iron and other minor nutrients)to your water at 1/2 strength (meaning if it says one teaspoon per gallon, you would only use 1/2 teaspoon per gallon) in the summer with EACH watering, and at 1/4 strength in the winter.

In the spring/summer, feel free to use a bloom boosting fertilizer, again liquid or water soluble, (I use Dr. Earth Organic Bloom Boosting fertilizer which has an NPK ratio of 10:15:24) once a month. Follow directions for half strength above.

If you get mealy bugs or other pests on your hoyas, you can mix 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol, 4 teaspoons of 100% neem oil, and 1 teaspoon of dish soap (not detergent) in a gallon of water, and spray.

Alternatively, there is a product called Safer 3 in 1, that I use, that is neem oil and sulfur and is an insecticide, miticide, and fungicide, all in one. I use this once a month or two, just as a preventative.

Thanks for the quick replies :-). We are in early spring so I might give them a hit with some fertilizer. And I has a closer look at the kerrii when I hung him back up and it has the startings of flowers :-) Happy days. I guess it is doing something lol. Thanks again.

Hi! Aurora has given you some excellent advice. I just wanted to add, that I have this problem with my Variegated Kerrii. It was receiving too much light. At the time, I had mine in a South facing window.

Hi Again! Just thought I'd post a quick update. So the standard kerrii is going well. I haven't actually cut it, instead putting two small pots under the already existing aerial roots. When it takes hold, I'll make the cut (call me a chicken, but I'm scared to just cut :/) The varigated kerrii looks ok too, the brown bits are turning red, which I think I read somewhere is ok.... Anyway they haven't spread so all good :-) My little indian rope is going great, it has about three full new leaves and several more coming on! So I think I need to make him some kind of support structure. Anyway, thanks everyone for your help :-).

I agree that too much sun is the cause of the brown edges on your variegated kerrii. I grow mine in deep shade and it looks best that way. Your carnosa also needs to be moved out of the sun. It will green up nicely if you give it only dappled sun or grow under a shady porch or tree.

Since you're coming into spring, any cuttings you will start will root lickety-split! Jump right in with rooting. Just put your cut stems in your rooting medium and put them somewhere warm and shady, keeping them slightly damp until they are well rooted. Then you can water normally. Kerriis don't like too much water - wait until they dry out good before watering. The others can take more water. And it's good advice to fertilize at half strength every watering during the active growing season. If you're trying to encourage growth, use a balanced fertilizer. If you're more interested in blooms, a bloom booster.
