Hummingbird Garden

I wish I could share with you!

I have hummers, hummers, hummers.

Not as many as Frank but still lots of birds.

I'm filling 5 48 oz feeders and 5 smaller ones

daily. I counted 16 on and around just 1 of the large

feeders today. I can't walk in my garden

they are in such a feeding frenzy.

I tried to take pictures, but they were taken against a

green background of Rhododendrens, stupid me.

My feeders are not as close as Frank's either.

I will try again tomorrow.

We had a rain shower today and it looked like it was

raining hummingbirds.

If any of you live close or if you are passing by

you are welcome to stop in.

How wonderful for you. I know what it is like to have raining hummers...just haven't seen it in a few years. Enjoy them all for the rest of us!

Plantlover I don't use Miracid and don't know if that would be good for citrus or not. I use something called Rite Green 4-6-8 Citrus, Mango & Avocado. I use that on all my tropical and sub tropical fruit trees as well as my figs. I also supplement with Epsom Salts and Kelp extract. I love going to my Mom's place in West Palm. I can just reach out the balcony window and pick an orange. I have no idea what the variety is, she didn't plant it. It's not an attractive fruit but it's the sweetest orange I've ever tasted. I'm afraid to plant more citrus trees at her place because there's rarely anyone there. My Mom will go down for a few weeks a year as will my sisters and I. The tree that's there is about 20' tall and doesn't need care but young trees would and the people she has taking care of the property really just keep the inside clean and mow the grass. After the horrible drought of 2011....I made a list of things that did well for me. You can get most any of these things at garden centers/nurseries or order and grow the seeds from Burpees, Parks, Thompson-Morgan, etc. The ARE stands for Antique Rose Emporium in Independence, Tx. LOL Gayle maybe I'd better rethink? Susan I am already thinking of painting inside, and maybe a few other things. But NO remodeling I got that part! Wedding planner is great, I told her to get a notebook for now and jot everything down! The in-law and out-laws, yep seems every family has to have a few of each! :) SheilaJoyce, nothing is set in stone yet except the date and attendants! We are going to set aside a date here in January or Feb to go look at dresses etc. She found one online that she loves tho, and she is thinking fall colors, browns,golds,red etc. Errr Video? Oh lord another thing to think about! LOL Julie, dear Julie!! Its fantastic to see you here! I know what you mean, the first wedding of DD went so fast, it seemed like it started and was over in a flash. I will get more help this time and hopefully enjoy it more! Vikki I forgot about that! I hope you handle this better than me! LOL It doesn't take much to throw me into a tizzy! LOL Maddie is flower girl and Drew and Hunter will be ringbearers! I HAVE to get a family pic taken!! The Fall Migration started two weeks ago,on the West Coast,So it's been raining three spiecies of Hummers in my yard,from Dawn to Dusk since then.

Jan that's wonderful! I have been experiencing that too this summer. And now more than ever I am happy but sad too because they will be gone in less than two months. Sarah

It is a time of mixed feelings.
Joy at having so many here at one time.
Sad because in a matter of weeks they will be gone
and withdrawl pains will hit.

Yesterday's hummers for the most part moved on
south and are being replaced by others.
I had a lot of big skinny females yesterday.
First time i've seen so many females at one time.
There were also lots of juvies. Mature males were smaller
and fatter.

Neil stood out by the feeder and they swarmed him.
His eyesight is failing so i'm sure he wanted to see
as many as he could. He always makes the nectar for them
and the suet cakes for the other birds.
He would be in heaven at Frank's place.

Janis this is great. It is so good to see postings about all the hummingbirds that are visiting us. It will be a sad day when I look out my window and don't see one of those little ones.
