I agree with Lycopus, it's not a pitcher plant, it is Jack-in-the Pulpit, (toxic).

I have them all, LS Shoremaster is a great grower and is very striking in mid summer.Mine gets about 4 hours of Eastern sun daily. Alligator shoes is also fast growing and has very showy color and rugose leaves.It can take some sun. First frost takes a couple of years to really show off but it is a wow Hosta in early spring.Too much sun will turn it green and white before you can really enjoy the true colors. American Halo also takes a couple of years but WOW! I have one in my courtyard that is nothing less than Stunning!It gets about 5 hours of sun but it is very close to the hose nozzle and gets more than its fair share of water. Lunar Orbit comes up sort of dull but brightens up mid season.I think it is fairly sun tolerant. Good luck with your new kids! denny

Actually, the fruit of Passion Vine is highly edible -- you've just picked it too soon. Another common name for the vine is Wild Apricot, which should give you some idea of the general taste of the ripe fruit. When it's ripe the skin pales to a soft yellow green and the flesh will be quite soft. The ripe seeds inside will be dark. The black bug might be a leaf footed bug. They suck sap, but don't seem to do too much damage in my garden, unlike their relative the squash bug, which pretty much destroys my squash plantings every year. I think the link you sent has more black accents than mahogany, BUT it looks like the one I'm looking for could be Kashmir Gold from the same site. Although when I do a search on Kashmir Gold, the pics on different sites look much more darker gold in color.
