New hostas and some NOIDs (pic heavy)

Hi,

I took a few photos today. I'd love help from the forum to identify why some of the plants don't look very healthy, and also to identify a few. I'm also putting pictures of my new ones just for fun! Would love any help!

My new Guardian Angel:

Three new from the local Hosta Society sale this morning, First Frost, Dark Shadows, and Lakeside Meter Maid:

My favorite (NOID). Purchased last year or possibly 2010.

Here is another NOID. What's up with the color variations? I'm assuming the lighter areas are where the dappled sunlight tends to hit. Should I move this guy into an area with more sun?

Anita,

Can you get a closeup on one of those discolored leaves and another of a healthy leaf and post them at full size. For some reason you pictures show up smaller, so it's hard to give an ID.

I'm trying to figure out how to make the pictures bigger. I need to go re-read the FAQ.

Will post better pic as soon as I figure it out.

Ok, I have since done a lot of work to the patio, although it doesnt appear like much. I should have some pictures for updates this week. The additions include a tree, some hyacinths, some lirope, some Globemaster Alliums, Plox, Naked Ladies (name??), a Balloon plant. If you notice, nowhere in there did I mention the moss between rocks.... thats because I had a minor setback. All of my mulch was washing down into the patio blocking out all sun to the moss and killing it. I have corrected (I think) that issue and you will see it in the pictures I post this week.

Thanks for the compliments on the annual pot! I worked for a private gardener one summer many years ago and my job was to do the annual pots and take care of them all summer. They ordered truck loads of gorgeous and rare annuals for their customers. I WISH I had access to something more interesting, but I make due (sp?) with what the local nurseries sell.... geraniums, million bells, licorice, potato vines, petunias, etc... I have 2 of these pots in my back done the same way and every year all I do is change the color of the million bells and geranium. It always comes out nice, but I think I'm getting bored with the same design every year. Oops, sorry to go on... thanks!

Guten Morgen, Bennie. I agree with Moccasin, Jon and all the others... your hostas are beautifully grown... sehr schoene Pflanzen. I envy your Blue Umbrellas, mine doesn't look as blue or tall, having been planted in 2007... darn those tree roots. Your Autumn Frost as well is taller than mine, which is still hugging the ground in its third year. Ich muss auch sagen, dass Ihr Englisch ausgezeichnet ist. Wir lieben Ihre Bilder hier und hoffen, dass Sie oefter zurueckkommen. My German is rusty, I used a dictionnary and compensated with an "e" because my keyboard has no umlaut. Auf Wiedersehn! Just saying,Bennie, we appreciate your effort and hope you come back often with more pictures of your beautiful hostas.

It might have to do with your camera or transferring the pics from your camera to your computer.

My woodsy path by the sunroom. Currently planted with boring (free) greenies, but I plan to interplant with sexy hostas over the next few years.

Beautiful path and garden! It is lovely now, I cant wait to see it with "sexy" hostas LOL!

Speaking of which, your NOID is on the Striptease family (Check kiwi full monty, strpteast, gypsy rose, hanky panky etc) It will probably match one of them
