Great shot! And I love the weeping spruce too -- been eying them lately for myself. I hope Ivory Coast can handle drier locations too, because I planted mine in my woodland garden which is a mixture of mature white pines and oaks!!! Eek! Well, I always am pushing plants to their absolute limits here I think, so we'll see what happens.....

Paul, this spout is from a 24x20 sqft roof only. I have another one like that from same size of roof in the center of the back yard via underground pipe. That one feeds 2 August Moon and a Diamond Tiara, plus other perennials.

The following photo shows plants around my 3rd downspout/ underground pipe discharge of rain water, see center right the black pipe under patio blocks. This one is fed by both sides of a 40x40 ft roof. The water turns left behind the Big Daddy in the middle, in between several Astilbes and continues for another 60 ft from the center left on a former path converted to a dry creek bed on gravel and stones. And it works, during steady rain the water actually runs down that path until it disappears under a fence.

Clockwise from the top : a row of Albomarginatas, Fortunei Albopicta, Old Glory, Marilyn Monroe, lancifolia, astilbes, Big Daddy in Center. This is how far my hostas have opened up in my zone 5a.
Sorry about all that red mulch, but it was half price around $1 / cft.

windchime : Ivory Coast's now yellow margin will turn white in summer. It looks like a smaller Liberty. Reading my notes from last year, I did not update my eye counts yet, it had 6 eyes also last year, same as now. But then I did this BAP-10 treatment last year, so it did the increase in eyes last year for this year.

Nice arrangement Bernd! I used that red mulch one year,and it got on my shoes,and I tracked it into the house. I wouldn't use it again,as it is dyed. Nice garden,anyway! Phil

Thanks, Phil. You certainly have nice landscape with paths through a slope. But you wrote that behind a maple you have a creek. There would be a great new project for you. I got my little dry creek bed conversion of a path to carry away all that rain water, just bought for it 100 lbs of round stone for $27 plus tax, really inexpensive.

I did not put that red mulch on the paths, so I did not get much on my shoes, but it was cheap, and I used 100 bags. The color only lasts a year.

Yeah,Bernd,I would love to clear out more underbrush down by the creek,but I am getting old,and weary. There are briars and all kinds of nasty vegetation there. I have cleared some,farther down the hill,but the vegetation grows back almost as fast as you can clear it! I am going to clear out the end of the garden this year,which isn't nearly as bad. Phil

Phil, I don't hope I get into a car accident, but I usually slow down when there is a creek next to a road. Hostas will probably love to be near a creek. Then there is an opportunity to have a little bridge over that creek, I start dreaming. But I know, last weekend I dug out a hemlock and a globe arbovitae, was tiring, but an Advil before it helps, plus some rest in between. Good luck!
