That is great to know for everyone that keeps looking in the stores and can't find it. I do have this EA hoya and it seems to be doing really well, it has peduncles all over it I just wish it would bloom.

Shanna, I have one also and it's doing really good and hangs down 2' from the pot rim but no sign of any penduncles.
What light do you give yours? Mine is in my big window wall faceing east, maybe it needs more light.

I ordered the curtissi and asked exotic angel to post it so I could buy it. Its due to be delivered today! Am excited and cant wait to see it!
I want them to post more hoyas for us..........for all of us new hoya lovers and experts out there.

I got my EA of curtissi from my local Lowe's. It's doing great hanging outside on my front porch with protected south exposure but thus far no sign of spurs at all. Im hoping since my hot summer didn't entice spurs maybe my cooler nights will since it has on serpens.
My nummalaroides should start making spurs soon. Seems to me if I remember right it blooms for me in Oct. or Nov. That is if it has blooming on it's social calender this year! lol.
I also found at Lowe's an EA Dischidia nummalaria variegated. It has done well over summer on the front porch getting east sun.
Another EA basket I came across at Lowe's was lacunosa. This is my second one. The first died because of the soil used by EA so when I bought this one I did repot it in my own soil mix and its doing fine this time. The other EA's I've bought I've left in EA soil.,,,,,Debbie

I took the bottom saucer off b/c someone here on GW suggested that with the EA plants. I have figured out with my curtisi. I had it sitting to the right of a southern window, did not transplant, but sat it on a saucer so the water did not run on the plant stand. The leaves were starting to yellow. I then moved it to a hanging position in-front of the same southern window, maybe 1' or 1.5' away. Water when dry, and usually just enought water to soak up the soil but not enough to come out the holes in the bottom of the pot. Make since? I do not have a saucer on the bottom of the pot, haven't seen much signs of red leaves from the southern light but the leaves are a really nice healthy shade of green. There are so many peduncles on this curtisi I probably couldn't count them all. This hoya had peduncles when I got it from Lowes so I can't take the credit for them. I am curious why yours wouldn't have any peduncles? I am assuming it is not rootbound yet?

blonde, I've had mine in the bright east window for about a year and it seems to like it there and has grown a lot this year but so far no signs of penduncles.
I left the saucer on mine and it hasn't caused any problems.
I've not had any problems with any of my EA plants so I'd say my watering method works well with the soil they came in.
I think since I have so many plants I don't have much of a problem with over watering because I water in sections,a differant group of plants each time so it takes me a while to get around to them all.

Shanna...you've GOT TO (Ã) post a photo of your plant with peduncles....I have H. curtisii too, (took some experimenting not to mention some dead plants, unfortunately, to figure out what made it happy!) and I've never seen a peduncle.

It doesn't climb....curtisii likes to hang. Glad you took the bottom saucer off. I lost all my EA hoyas in the past when I kept the saucer on, and then as soon as I started removing the saucer as soon as I got the plants home, they all started to thrive for me (and most are blooming).

Don't let curtisii stay wet. This one seems to like to dry out between waterings, as Shanna said. I water it once in a while (when it feels really light), and I water all my hoyas thoroughly when watering.

Enjoy your new addiction - it WILL get worse :)

Interestingly enough, this Hoya also does very well mounted on bark. I mention this since as mentioned above, they seem to like to dry out btwn waterings, yet liked being frequently moist on the bark.

I've had a small plant for yrs. & a couple of yrs. ago I started some of it over a hunk of bark secured w/ sewing thread. It secured itself as well w/ some aerial roots, did very well. It's just that I neglected to consider I'd have to water it every day, either a dunk in the sink or some misting. The plant really liked it, I lost patience & eventually put it back in the pot.

I've never seen this in bloom, never see it in NYC area either, only some greenhouses in PA (where I saw it mounted on bark). Is it fragrant? I'd love to get more, just never see it offered around here. Enjoy!

I swear that this is absolutely one of my favorite foliage plants of all time - it could *never* have blooms and I'd be happy.

How long have your peduncles been 'just sitting there'? (for lack of a better phrase) LOL!

I can see how this one would do well mounted, Karen, as it seems to always have LOTS of aerial roots.
Maybe I'll try that someday when my plant 'grows up'!

Shanna, that's once beautiful plant you have there. With a plant with such pretty leaves, you can forgive it when it's slow to flower. The leaves make up for it.
