a few of my hostas this spring,enjoy...

this is a few of my plants that are out in moderate to full swing so far:

first is el nino and it is in a pot. i bought it last year and she is in moderate sun and looks great

these next two are midwest magic on the left (which i just bought last month) and dress blues on the right which i have had for three years and both are in pots in moderate sun.

this is one of my striptease`s and it is in a pot and three years with me in moderate sun- a beauty

this is fortunei albo picta and i just bought it last month and it had quite a few eyes; i needed a hosta to grow in a spot where nothing else would. it has exploded in a few short weeks and is grown in moderate sun- i hope it keeps the wonderful pale yellow leaves because it really pops.

this clifford`s stingray and it is in its third year in a pot and is a slow go, but a real eye catcher

this next one in the middle of the picture is key lime pie and is becoming a personal fave. it was planted last year in dappled shade and has purple stalks with purple flower stalks as well. not just another green hosta; has an unusual glow- a subtle sheen that the pics don`t capture

sagae in it`s third year in the ground in deep shade. a real slow plant but this year has eight eyes and counting and is starting to become that great hosta everyone raves about

spilt milk in it`s second year in a pot- a slow go as well but really interesting

queen josephine in it`s second year in a pot in dappled shade- quickly outgrowing it`s home and is a beauty.

Very nice! All of your plants looks great.
Also, Fortunei Albopicta is viridescent and will turn green later in the season.

Beautiful. Love the shiny leaves on Queen Josephine! The rabbit ate most of mine. Key Lime Pie just made my list!

yeah.. yeah.. yeah .. all i have to do is post its carp .. and we get pix from the 3 peeps that actually can grow it.. lol ... thats a lot of blue green .. for what is sold as GE.. and that is why your succeeds.. while all the rest of us fail .. you got a good one.. and you have grow it to perfection ... thx for the pic and another MN person who can grow it... what is in their soil .. the NC version looks more like DW or Thunderbolt ... lots of green blue to support the plant ... vs. the terminal white plant ... dont get me wrong.. i am envious .... but GE is carp ... ken

Linda, the rock was a handme-down from a neighbor so I tried to use it. Longterm I'd like to replace it with a more gentle gravel like the rest of the paths. I wasn't aware that it may alter my soil, that is indeed good reason to remove it quickly. Take a seat here Lynne: Or here: Or here(if you're not afraid of Costco chairs!): I prefer to rest up here. The breeze tends to blow the hammock around more and it puts you much closer to the birds and chipmunks. It was a necessary place too for birdhouses and food that my mole-hunter can't reach. -Will

Luke is definitely a cutie, peren.all! Your garden looks great, as always! Nicholsworth (without the 55 part!)---now what can I change my name to---oldhostalady?---your compost factory is quite the process! Lots of work involved, but I believe it when you say that your plants are loving your compost! I have to say that I am envious with anyone whose hostas are now gone dormant! I am waiting for a freeze just so I can put my hosta containers away. It's cold and windy and I just don't enjoy the outdoors very much anymore. It's too cold for me! Now about Fragrant Blue, I remember a thread where forum members were discussing whether or not they could smell any fragrance from Fragrant Blue. I was surprised that many said that they could not. ty-they say the pacific northwest is prime for growing hostas; i owe the results to the climate rather than anything i do lol.
we have had a very cool spring and not a lot of sun this year so far; perfect for hostas but not so good for roses...

to handyman-i just leave the pots outside; we have fairly mild winters.
to hostafreak: yes i am at a premium for land because i am in a townhouse complex with a small patch of space, but i use every available sq. inch lol. i envy those who can actually plan these huge gardens; i could only dream...
property is a fortune up here.

You have a very nice collection. I am going ton try to grow some in pots so I can fill a bare area under a silver maple. I hope my do as nice as yours!

Very nice photos! My hostas were smashed by 2" hailstones on Sunday, so it's nice to see all the beautiful foliage while I wait for the new flush of leaves to help cover the damage.
