very leggy hoya...trim to fill in?

I have a verigated hindu rope hoya that blooms frequently. The only problem I have is that it is two very long (about 3-4 feet) vines dangling from a pot. That's it. It looks very sparce. I was thinking of triming the vines and rooting them and then planting them in the original pot. (does that make any sense to you all)?

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for your help!
