Hostas under Deodar Cedar

mahnrut

We planted a group of hostas in two beds around 10 years ago and both beds had huge deodar cedars in them. We took one of the trees down as it was dwarfed by the other in a small front yard. As you will see by the picture there is a huge difference now between the two sets of hostas. I asssume the lack of moisture makes the difference but wondered if there was another variety of hosta that would thrive better in the side where there is still a huge (planted in 1932) tree. Thanks for any advice.
