Very nice garden pictures. I like the Emerald Pagoda flowers so much I looked it up. Not hardy here - poor me! All the georgeus Japaneese Maple bushes people have posted pictures of makes me extremely jealous.

Sandy aren't the Knockouts great? My husband swears the pink one has a fragrance but for the life of me I cannot smell it. So now when he exclaims over the scent I just pretend to be able to detect it ;-)

McT I guess they wouldn't work for you. The Styrax Emerald Pagoda is borderline zone 5. Unless you were to opt for a container to move it to a sheltered spot for winter, just a thought.

Cyn, yes I'm seeing the same here, not my Empress Wu yet but others are already sending up their bloom scapes. Everything is so early here this year.

Hey, Shade, great pics. 2 questions: in the second photo, what is the plant on the left with the dark "necklace"? And is that Guardian Angel to the left of Kikutii? I, fortunately, still have room for more hosta and your pics inspire me to find Climax, Satisfaction, Olive Bailey Langdon, Super Nova . . .

Phil you are right, it is Dawn's Early Light, I like that hosta, I think I planted it three years ago.
Tomahawk the plant with the "necklace" (love that description)
is persicaria, or somtimes called tovara, the variety is Painter's Palette, gets cream, green and pink coloring to the leaves and pretty almost beaded looking red flowers late in the season. It self sows like a demon but is fairly easy to pull out. I like it for a groundcover or filler. Yes that is Guardian Angel. You might want to skip Super Nova, most years it doesn't look so hot and it is a s-l-o-w grower.
