Did Mitzicos get cuttings?

Hi,

I was just curious, did Mitzicos get the hoya cuttings she was hunting for? I had offered to help, but had to leave town for two funerals. My mother-in-law in Nebraska and two days later my daughter in Chicago. I just got back last night. I hope she was able to find some cuttings to take back home. Sorry I couldn't help...

I feel very sorry for your losses. I lost my mom this year and still very sad!

Well I did not get any cuts yet, but I'm going to LA today!!!! Arriving tomorrow.

they are probably pouting a bit after being shipped. the sun in texas is murder this time of year.i always put my new brugs in some dappled light shade, like under a tree or give them afternoon shade for the first couple of weeks till they get over the stress of being shipped. were the ends mushy like rot or were they just wilting a bit from the heat?

Keep your caerulea for a pollinator for your other passiflora that need one. It is a great pollinator and the flowers smell awesome. You could get one of the edulis varieties for eating, there are purple or yellow fruited varieties. Wellpring on ebay sells small starter plants fairly cheap like 8.00 or so. Just do a search on ebay for "passiflora plant".

it's National Invasive Species Week (February 27-March 3) and it JUST came up in a ROUND ROBIN forum here - YES, it IS illegal to ship any plant (unless it has a photo sanitary certificate and things like not grown in garden soil are part of the check). The link above "CDFA even notes it can have serious legal and financial consequences for the persons involved," is to the .GOV site for people who like to check things out for themselves. California is the reason Houzz put the disclaimer "Seed and plant exchanges are regulated by government laws. By participating in this forum, you agree that you will familiarize yourself with and follow all applicable local and national laws" at the top of every exchange forum. Back in the day they were considering not keeping the exchange forums so as not to enable illegal activity if folks don't check their local laws. If you want more info, UC Riverside is where most of the Invasive Species fight happens - they say on average, California acquires around six invasive species per year, this is a rate of one new species every 60 days. It's a big deal and there are always food crops they're trying to save (or swaths of native forests and plants).

Thanks to all of you for your very kind thoughts for my family. We're back home in Ca, but we're in a fog, trying to put all of our emotions in place. Thank you all so very much.
I e-mailed Mitzi this afternoon in hopes that I can still help her smuggle some hoyas back home....!!!

I once lived in Holly Park part of Hawthorne - off of Van Ness many moons ago. Later I lived off 130th and Ramona for 12 years, moved in 2004 to South O.C. You?

@Tammy, I live in the Wiseburn area, Rosecrans and Ocean Gate, we're not Hawthorne we're unincorporated LA County, but we have a Hawthorne zip code .
Really like it here, we're 3 miles from Manhattan Bch, so our weather is always much cooler as you well know. I am originally from Chicago...
