Yes, I also have bought from some who never gave feedback. Many were really big sellers who were too busy or just didn't bother. Whether I'm buying or selling, I try to give feedback quickly so that the person at the other end knows that either the money or the plant got there safely and in good condition. But there is always a small segment of people who just don't bother! I guess if it frustrates you a lot, don't buy from them again. This reminds me, after today's mail, I have to give some feedback to a bunch of buyers. ( don't sell seed, though!)

Well, it may be useless to some, but I always check it before buying from a seller I don't know. As I buy and sell, it is important to me that the buyers are pleased and give good feedback so that other buyers can read that before they decide to buy. I have a few auctions going now, and a lot of people who have bought from me before have bids, but there are some new ones too. Hopefully they read my feedback. But this is JMHO!!

Last night I went to my "closed auctions" and gave everyone who'd paid last week all their due feedback. Thanks for the reminder : -)

If you are a seller, you want to know that the people who buy plants are going to pay for them - and do it promptly!! Some people are very good about responding. BUT, I've gotten burned a couple of times - people bid, won the bid, and then NEVER paid for it. I had to take these to Mike Longo and ( at least in one case, as the person had done it to others) they banned the person. But it is valuable to those who buy as well as those who sell!

You can ban people who don't pay ( just as an example) from bidding on your future auctions if needed. I have never banned anyone, since Mike banned the really bad offender from bidding on the auction.

I have never sold anything there but I buy on the LA all the time. Since I pay immediately if they take paypal and as fast as possible when I have to mail a check, I want the sellars to give me the excellent feedback I deserve. This way anyone new I buy from knows my bids are always good. In fact one seller that only took checks, not paypal, shipped out an extemely expensive daylily before I could even mail the check because I was running out of time last fall to get it planted. He did this having confidence because of my feedback.

Bambi some folks that are buyers sometimes do or plan to become sellers. When they do become sellers they already have feedback in place for those who check. IMHO if they have good number of purchases they know what buyers expect to recieve and how to properly ship daylilies. Some of my daylilies will need dividing soon and I may try selling the extras on the LA.

Silverkelt when I communicate with a seller I always request feedback when they recieve payment that way I know it got there. I leave feedback for them when their shipment arrives. There are some sellers that just plain do not leave feedback. I tend to be more willing to purchase more times from those who do leave feedback.

WHOA.. that makes too much sense. Sooo much easier to start another nonsense thread and whine to the gallery. :) Another thread complains of the lack of posting here on GW. Does the nonsense.. all the 2nd party marketing here... make this forum irrelevant?

Some other venues.... the posting can be CONTROLLED.... friendly confines means less posting of a real nature.. the FACTS... that might not flatter the marketing efforts of those owning the venue.

What is more valuable: FACTS earned via real world experince.. or.. FLUFF.. the ga-ga internet world of one-time pics, greenhouse plants and scant objective data on daylily performance.

I have both bought and sold on the LA and while I liked getting/giving the feedback I often felt it most "fluff". One is not to leave negative feedback w/o first contacting the seller and trying to work out the issue. This is all fine and well, but there are a few non-scrupulous people who have tried to sell via this venue and , well, things get to be somewhat of a sticky wicket. It gets to where folks just don't leave feedback of any kind, but they do pass on their good experiences as well as bad to all their gardening friends. Word of mouth seems to have more impact that any feedback. For me feedback has become a way of only trying to get an idea about how long a person has been selling (or buying) and nothing more.

I find it quite distressing that some on this forum put down or ridicule the posts of others as being less important, "fluff" or a "nonsense thread" to "whine to the gallery." Granted, some subjects may contain more information than others, but this attitude of putting down others for daring to express their thoughts is one of the reasons the (large E-mail robin)robin posts have declined by about 75% over the nearly 10 years I've belonged to that group. I don't object to someone who is new to the Lily Auction asking advice about how to proceed, nor do I mind someone commenting that the forum has been slow lately! Let's please be nice - share information if you have knowledge of the subject, but please don't make fun of people for posting. Otherwise, people won't bother to participate at all!

It's alright, Floota- northerndaylily wouldn't even be here if he hadn't driven everyone off of his Yahoo cold climate daylily list with his peculiar brand of "charm".

I dont mind if someone disagrees with me, I know its was silly to start with.

However, Im a couple weeks away from starting seedlings and my next seedling crop (around 500 this year set to bloom) Will not be ready to share for half a year or more (LOL!) There isnt much else for me to post.

Its a open forum. I think its just common Courtesy to leave feedback, even if you are a major seller! I said it was just a peeve. Im not going to go out of my way to ruin her reputation, hence why I didnt post a name. Nor will I .

I agree that in the grand scheme of life this is a minor issue!! And I've been on the LA for years, both selling and buying. Especially for new buyers, I try to add their feedback immediately after they send payment. But not everyone does that! Last year I bought a "collection" of new daylilies from one of the "Big boys" who occasionally sells on the auction - it came to nearly $300 and I sent payment w/i a week. It irked me big time that he couldn't be bothered to leave feedback for one of the "regular" people. So even if he offers a tempting collection in the future, I'd probably order the plants elsewhere if I felt a burning need to get them. Silverkelt is right, it is just common courtesy.

A few times though, some of the really big sellers didn't send feedback for a long time, and then ( maybe they just did a whole bunch together every few months or something) two months later when I'd forgotten about it, they sent feedback.

From what I've read, for some people, not receiving feedback can cause that seller to lose out on future sales. Sounds pretty darned important to me.
Personally, (as a buyer only), of two sellers offering the same product, I would chose the one with a higher percentage of positive feedback.
Viceversa, I like receiving +ve feedback as it shows that I am a trustworthy buyer. On ebay, some sellers have a restriction to buyers with 20 or more (for eg.) +ve ratings.
It's all about who is going to end up getting my money. As someone who is not on a first name basis with any seller, or their identity is unknown, I have to go with the only thing available to me which is feedback and their "about me" blurb.
I have 2 wins only on LA. One seller gave me feedback, the other didn't. I have no hard feelings towards the second seller, but my natural instinct is to buy again from the first.
