This was the first year I grew 'Destined to See'
It was a small fan, but did put on two blooms.
As you can see from my photo, it did not bloom above the foliage entirely. It was very pretty, and I am hoping does better this next summer.

Frankly, I like this daylily so much, I'd be willing to dig it out of the foliage if I had to.

I was wondering about the color. Description given say "creamy yellow" yet many pics from sellers I saw were more of whitish color for the sepals/petals.
Nina's pic definitely has the creamy yellow tint to it.
Looking at random_harvest photo's, it appears more whitish than creamy yellow.

What could I expect?

Here are some more photos. I'm not sure if this helps or not. They look different from each other but they are all from the same plant (two photos from this year, one from last year). No flash was used and the photos were not retouched.

Here are a few pictures of mine. I do find that some of the flowers can have more of a creamy coloring to the petals while the next time they seem more white. But, they have never been yellow or orange, only just a bit creamy. I love this daylily and so do others when they come for a tour of the yard. As for the bud count I don't know. I haven't gotten into doing that with my daylilies...yet.

Here is a clump shot, taken in full sun, so that is why the flowers are overexposed.

Really good picture post! Not a variety I'm terribly interested in but the variety of pics, from variety of weather conditions, from a variety of cameras...all show the same flower to me. I'm no photographer but I know I kill 10 shots for every one kept.

Thanks Brenda for the pics. Yours has the creamy yellow tint to it - at least when I look on my monitor.
I also think it holds up pretty well under rain conditions and doesn't appear that it "melts".

I guess it will be a toss up as to how it will actually bloom. I've put this on my list of dls to see during some display garden tours.

DTS is one of my favorite plants. One of the first "newer" daylilies when I first purchased it. Fantastic increase, fertile but as noted before blooms just barely above the foliage. Here's a pic from my garden:

I think of DESTINED TO SEE in my garden as having off white petals with a blue purple eye. My photos tend to blow out the petal color, which does have some very light yellow in it. Susxmedic has a very true to life photo above.

I keep seeing the creamy white and no creamy yellow so I'm wondering what happened with this daylily? I've also posted this on the northerndaylilies forum and most of those folks also have this plant showing a creamy white instead of the registered creamy yellow.
I've still got it on my list......

Confusing, isn't it?
I've had mine about four years now, and it isn't a fast increaser for me. But I love it, just the same. Sometimes it blooms above the foliage, sometimes in the foliage, depending on what kind of Spring weather we have. A cold, wet Spring will cause mine to bloom in the foliage. I think the coloring depends on the kind of soil you have, also your climate. Also, keep in mind, that cameras are different, as are everyone's monitors - so many variables! I'm thinking your climate in NY may be similar to mine. I've never kept track of bud count on any of my DLs...that will be a new goal for next year, for sure. I do know the bud count was low for the first couple of years.

Here is Destined To See in my garden this past summer ... as you can see it does sometimes bloom low. But I don't remember that being typical or I would have gotten rid of it.

Thanks Julie and Pam for the pics. I did check out Dave's website originally ( plus Tinkers plus a few others)and that's what prompted my inquiry. Only 1 picture posted on his site is that creamy yellow the registered dl should be.
I would have thought soil also but given the variety of regions where this is growing, I hesitate to lean in that direction.

I will have to see if its blooming when we visit the gardens on the Region 4 tour in July.

I forgot to add one more variable above concerning coloring of some DtS photos. So much depends on the lighting conditions when I snap a picture. A cloudy day is the best time to snap a picture. But sometimes the coloring also varies during the day! More white may show in the morning, and a creamier color may show in the late afternoon.
tsbccowboy's photos above are a perfect example of three different colorings on the same plant.

I find it very interesting how your EZ shows more red-violet, while mine shows more blue-violet. I just looked up the properties on my photo, and saw that I snapped it at 8:21 A.M. when the sun hadn't yet risen over the trees to the East.

Now you all have me curious, and wanting to experiment next season by taking some morning and evening shots to compare them!

Thanks for the compliment. You may use the photo. I don't have any of mine copyrighted. Gee - maybe I should look into that. Spring of 2008 brought us lots of rain. I think all the extra micro-nutrients falling from the sky add to the richness of the bloom.

Also, I can't remember for sure, but I may have "saturated" that photo about 10% or so. I often do that, as my printer doesn't show the same good quality as is seen on my computer screen unless I saturate a little. I have some photos from 2007 that look more like tsbccowboy's first photo, and Debra's.

You can saturate the colors of a picture in any photo editing program. Find the color editing menu, and you will see a Hue or Saturation option where you can move a slider up or down to enhance a photo. There is also a text tool in most photo editing programs. They are all a little bit different, so I can't go into detail for you. But if you name the type of software you have, I'm sure someone here could help you if you ask.

Fantasylilies,

Photobucket allows you to edit your photos. You can change saturation and add text there. When you are in Photobucket, select Edit Image, then make your changes. In Edit mode, select Basic, then Adjust to change saturation. Select Decorate and Text to add text.

Photo editing software may work better than Photobucket for editing your photos, but Photobucket does let you do some editing.
