Blooming Dischidias

Denise

I've made it a point to give my Dischidias more water this year and I've been rewarded with flowers. This is D. acutifolia, which I got as a cutting in '06 (thanks, Yale! I love this one!)...

It was really hard to get a good pic of these teeny-tiny flowers! In fact, they're so little, it could have been blooming awhile as they only caught my attention when I was examining the foliage after reading something about this species!

Then there's D. oiantha Schltr. (which Tanya Livschultz says is "a Phillipine endemic".) This one reminds me of geri in both leaf size and shape, but the flower clusters are a LOT bigger. (At least bigger than I've seen on my geri...)

Of course, when I say bigger flower clusters, I mean more flowers in a cluster, not bigger flowers... The plant has gotten very large and potbound and it's covered with these flower clusters.

Always glad to know I'm doing something right!
