Have you got a Hoya Autralis Oramicola? May I see it, please!

I searched the net but could not find a photo of Hoya Autralis Oramicola.

If any of you have this plant, may I please see a pic?

This one is my two-month-old cutting with a peduncle. I wonder if you recognize it as Oramicola. Should I disbud the peduncle since the plant is still too young?

Xuan,

I don't grow it myself, but the leaf shape looks the same as photos I've seen of it. I wouldn't remove the peduncle - it doesn't hurt to let them bloom when they're a cutting. It may stop growing until the flower is done, but with just one peduncle, that won't take long - probably won't even affect it.

Congrats on such a nice healthy plant!

It was not offered for postage..LOL But we got it all worked out and yes she is a nice person and I admire her plants..she has some real beauties. I did get a plant from her and it was in a small priority mail box that costed no were near that to ship...but she gave it to me free and I am thankful. But I was asked to buy it first...but I refused and we talked about it. I think this is a very decent person that just wanted to get something for her wonderful plants is all..I had another person want to sell me a hoya also, some people even get tricky about it and try to word it differantly to get past the whole "selling" issue....but fact is if you ask for money for your plants beyond what postage is that is selling them. And not allowed on GW.

Denise, you asked "Now, what's this about a lacunosa/obscura cross?? I've never heard of such a thing. Where did you get it? Can you post a photo??" I was curious also, so I did a search on the net and came up with the hoya that is suppose to be a cross between H. Obscura and H.Lacunosa ssp. Paddiflora and its called Hoya cv. Sunrise. The vendor in HI, carries it? Flowers looks a lot like Lacunosa, but supposedly the leaves resembles both.

Sheesharee, my DH and I are just getting ready to finish the built-in storage in our two closets, which are about the same dimensions as yours. We are doing L-shaped storage, that is, along two walls, so there's enough room to comfortably stand/dress in there. We're doing built-in stacks of shoe/sweater shelves, with double hanging bars on one wall and singles on the other. The empty wall will have hooks for robes, belts, etc. Each closet will also have a rolling laundry hamper we can easily roll down the hall to the washer/dryer area. I carefully planned it all out depending on the measurements of what we each need to store. It will probably end up costing us about $250 in materials by the time we're done. I'll try to post some photos once the main component are installed, and then later (hopefully by next weekend!) when it's all painted and has clothes in it :) We have been living out of piles and remote closets and basement boxes for over a year now since we had to gut this part of the house due to a mold problem and bathroom renovation. It's been so frustrating not knowing where stuff is. I am sooooooooooo looking forward to having nice, organized closets!

moutaineergirl - As you said, your meakin creamer is pre-1897. The other two pieces may be even older if they are English and unmarked, or it's possible that they're American. American ironstone wasn't readily embraced by Americans right away and English was preferred. American potters either left their pieces unmarked, or used marks that looked very much like English marks - basically in an effort to fool people. Eventually, American ironstone came into its own and the marks became more unique. My favorite American mark is a Homer Laughlin (Ohio) image of the American Eagle attacking the British lion. ;o) Your matching pair appear to be in really good condition, but when I clicked on the images to try to see them larger, it wouldn't let me into photobucket. I couldn't make out what pattern they might be. arlosmom - I love the way you've used your pieces, and I love brown transferware too! coll4 - I'm drooling over that giant bowl and the huge pitcher on the right of your lighted cabinet. Wow!

I grow it and your plant looks just like mine. I can bloom at an early age and and if your plants is rooted in well and showing new growth already as it appears to be,i'd just leave the peduncle o n it and let it bloom.

Xuan, I have to take some pictures of hoyas today so i'll try (if I can remember) to get a pic of the oramicola for you. I got my plant from David Liddle as a cutting a few years ago. It actually seems to be a moderately fast grower once it takes hold.

Xuan, as promised here are the pictures of my hoya australis ssp. oramicola IML 0123 from David Liddle. The first pic is of the entire plant. It was larger than this but I have cut it several times to share with people.

the second photo is an up close of the leaves for you to compare it to your plant. You'll notice that my plant has some tiny new peduncles on it now as well. It has bloomed before though.

It's amazing at just how varied the leaves can be in size and shape on this hoya.

You can see in the last pic where I have cut a few feet from the plant so I could start a new one.

I believe my plant looks exactly like yours, especially when I see that second section up high on your plant.

But how come the leaves on yours are curved back at the rim? Those on mine don't have that curve. Maybe I'm keeping it too wet?

Your plant looks very healthy. Please do share photos when it blooms.

i'm not sure what is making the leaves curl like that,it could be that maybe I am keeping my plant too wet as I do tend to water this one a little more that it should be!!!
