Thanks for the welcome,Diane and Julia. I also stopped at the local nursery on my way home tonight, and found a Hoya carnosa (I think?). It is just labelled as a Hoya. It is very viney, and has white edged varigated leaves. It also has many flower buds, some look like they may actually be getting ready to bloom soon. I hope that they will stay put, with the move to a new location. I have this in a south window filtered by sheer curtains. Do you think that will be ok? Also, that room is a bit warmer, perhaps 70ish degrees and is heated with a wood pellet stove. Does a carnosa want more or less watering? I did some reading here on the serpens, and have moved it to an East window, in a room that is slightly cooler than where I had originally put it. Thanks again and I now think that I am done adding to my hoya stock (for now at least). Sincerely, Carol

geosdee, I'm in the FL panhandle also. pug - no problem. Yes I repotted it once since I received it, it was at least 2 years ago. At the time I put it in a 4 inch net pot with orchid seedling bark mix. Honestly I can't tell what the roots look like in there, the top is overgrown and I can't see down into it at all. As to why it gets watered everyday, well it's because the bench it sits on, the other plants on it need watered everyday. Also this is every sunny day in summer. In winter, when it's cooler, they get watered either by rain or me about 3 times a week on average. Sometimes more if we get a lot of rain. It all started this way the winter before last, I looked up it's habitat and saw that it grows in similar conditions as some of my Coelogynes, so I set it on their bench, and it has received the same culture as them since then. Then last spring it bloomed for the first time, so I left it with the Coelogynes all last year, and now this year it is blooming better, so I will definitely leave it with the Coels. It is probably receiving signifcantly more light than most people would give it, and as it's in a net pot, with a good breeze going outside all the time, I would suspect that it dries out almost every sunny day. Well Gang, May I pls. be the voice of caution here & while I wish both your Serpens to recover, I encourage taking healthy cuttings now (just in case). Unfortunately, I lost this Hoya to this kind of ailment several yrs. ago. When I first got it, a couple of bits broke off & I sent them to Ooojen along w/ some other plants. She since posted that it's grown on for her to the point of even blooming! She's even offered me some of it back which I do plan on taking her up on, I'm just a bit too chicken___ abt it still. Mine had been a quick favorite in a pretty big full pot (6" maybe) & I loved it dearly, very cool texture & sort of dainty look abt it. She's the only one I know of who seems to be able to grow this w/out much trouble. I think I'll go over to Houseplants & ask her to come here to share some tips w/ all of us. I love all the textures of this plant in bloom. Great shots Kelly!!! I cannot wait for my little serpens to grow up. The pace of my plants growth is 6 leaves appear then 2 die back, so eventually I'll have a large plant. Aphids like serpens. I think it is almost like caviar to them. I am constantly smushing the little boogers, but haven't seen any for about 2 weeks and I'll keep my fingers crossed. -David
