Ria, so far the one ou like is staying lighter pink. Kinda dusty pink. I like it too and will probably hybridize with it. Cause it is pink and horizonal! It is hot here, so the blossoms are fading fast. The horizonal one does get a good recurve going, but it is fading fast, too. BlueSwan, these photos are of seedlings and the crosses or parents, are named brugs. Some of us on this forum grow brug seeds or they hybridize their own crosses ...... and these folks like to share the results. Most brug seedlings are trialed for three years before they are registered, if they are deemed woorthy of being registered. Many of my seedlings are look-alikes or duds! Speaking of duds, the following cross has very promising genetic possibilities and this particular seedling has great deep pink Super Spot color but the blossoms never open up wide! Not a keeper, so far, and that is sad, it is a nice big plant! It may do better in cooler weather. Bergfeuer x Super Spot/ Volker hybridizer/ 2007 seed.

GREAT PICTURE!!! How many did you raise this year? I'm new to this forum & I haven't figured out how to share pictures yet. Thanks for sharing your's with us!!! :o) This is the first year that I have helped raise BFs--10 Monarchs-5 male 5 female & so far 4 of my 10 BSTs-all female have eclosed. I am hoping that a few will wait until the spring. We have had 80+ temps the last week until today(mid 60s high). I never realized how much work it is but also, how REWARDING it is to raise them!!! We are starting to see more monarchs coming through but the big migration hasn't reached us yet in North Texas. I have been seeing at least 3 a day the last few days.

oakleif, I have and they are just like the mother plant. Evidently bees don't do much pollinating with them. I just planted out three Joan Senior seedlings. I am sure they won't bloom this year. I have had two blooms on the plants I got at the Master Gardener's sale this year. One I liked very much and the other is bent over from the rain so I haven't had a chance to check it out. It has rained for several days here. We are up to about 4 inches........at least no tornadoes. We did go to the cellar yesterday when they were all around us and within a few miles....none touched down, thankfully.

Morning all, Raybo, First off, congrats on all your press out there. You've really taken a simple design and "Mona Lisa'd" it!! Actually, the BER really wasn't that bad...maybe twenty tomatoes out of 400 or so. Will see if I can find the C-Tex for next year. And no, no fall garden. Tried it last year with dismal results. Nice big tomatoes (10-12oz), perfectly formed, very good production, and no disease problems. They'll be my staple for next year. Hope all is well up North! Cheers! Johnny, You know...after further review I guess I really shouldn't be too disappointed with my results. The production of some varities wasn't what I hoped for but it was still fun trying new ones. I sure learn a lot on this site and it's fun to compare notes with others. I used hydrated lime which I picked up at a farm CO-OP. Next year I'll use Dolomitic lime which tends not to affect PH as much. As I told Raybo above, in hindsite, I really didn't have much of a BER problem after all. I think out of a total of 400 tomatoes or so, I only had to cull about 20 which had BER. Most of these were the Parks Whopper CR, same plants I had trouble with last year. However, I'll continue to grow them next year as they produce a perfectly shaped, tasty and large (10-12 oz) tomato. Their production is really good also...15-20 fruit per plant. It it were me, I'd continue to use the lime. The Black Cherry were good but others liked them better than I did. I was really disappointed with Opalka. Had heard so many great things about it but for me, production was very poor. The Kellogg's Breakfast was really a disappointment. Very bland, almost tasteless. Of course, one year's experience doesn't really mean much as the weather was really not normal this year down here. So...I don't mean to belittle any of these varieties, maybe they just don't do all that well where I live. Or...maybe I don't know what the hell I'm doing!!!! Cheers!
