Newbie, Yes he is one good hubby most of the time, but, there are those days when his 'engineer brain" takes over and that can try even the patience of a Saint. BUT after 34 years, as of Monday, one just rolls with it. The candylily is actually more of an iris and not a true lily. They start to bloom in the second year and multiply in fans very quickly. OK DAWIFF, that's it, there is something in the air out there in Seattle. We WS some salpiglossis Chocolate royale a couple of years ago and your words where "I don't really like it, don't want them next year." Now she says "chocolate royale this year that I just love." And guess what? I got some old seeds of them saved from the year we sowed them. Seed pods for them are right where the flower was, but it takes quite a while for them to form and then ripen. give them time and they will get there for you. My seeds where from Kmart, martha stuart brand. She seems to be the only one that puts them out on the shelves in packages to buy and K-mart sells the commercial seeds for 40% off the package price. I only have a couple of plants though. Germinated beautifully and planted out but that's as far as they made it. Watched the groundhog gourge on them, and what was left went down the throat of the chipmunk except for a couple of them. Will save some seeds for you of these and whatever else blooms and will send you the chocolate royale too. Nancy, Mine are candylily and some of the blackberry lily look almost the same, but there are some blackberry lily that TM seeds sells that are supposed to be pastel colors of pink, lavender and yellow. I sowed them this year and expect them to bloom next year. The first year my candy lily bloomed it was a bit of display of bloom, about 10 flowers and the one fan had become 3 fans. From the next year on, they just bloomed and bloomed and multiplied in fans to now I have 14 fans and plan to separate them in the fall. Fran

Confused Angel....with the ferns, Mac, I think that is one of the best photos of it I've seen, and now I would love to get one of those. Sigh....so many hostas, so little time/room. Santa, yes, one went heat dormant in 2012. None in 2013, but so far 4 in 2014. I'll do another thread on that one. Could not get my computer to respond last time I was on, and gave it a break just turned it on after dinner. I was out working heavy duty all day in the garden, shuffling things around so the better looking plants had what they needed, the wimpy ones could go to ICU, the bloomers all get close together, and the whole place get refreshed.

Hi all, I'm still here too. Inspite of the ammount of food I ate this week, I am another pound down. This is a psychological breakthrough for me as it puts me in the 40's. Knowing I have to fight to keep it will hopefully give me incentive to say no to the little extras I let slip in. McPeg being idle is hard. I don't know where you work. Could you bring something to keep you fingers busy like quilt squarers, needlepoint or a crossword? It helps me that I made a rule that I cannot eat anything while doing something else. Reading,television,at the computer,outside, talking on the phone....if I eat I must focus on that alone unless dining out with others of course. Otherwise I would be thoughtlessy inhaling my food. Erica, hope things perk-up for you DH (and you) soon. Kathy, use your time with DH gone to do something nice for yourself. Oh how we love them, but sometimes I dream of how easy it would be to be single. Then reality hits and I realize how much we both need each other in so many different ways. Fortunately we are both ones who need alone time and understand that. Alice I just discovered Diet Rite sodas are now made with Splenda and have no calories or sodium. Hi guys! I'm here again. Already been to a Scottish Highlands celebration---VERY FUN! and an airshow---big stuff here---very talented pilots! "Big" earthquake wasn't anywhere around here, but there are frequent earthquakes in this area. The REAL threat is the mosquitoes! YIIIIII! I bought HUGE citronella candles, DEET spray, and citronella plants---and STILL they come! Combatting the bugs is a joke and constant hobby here. I was potting some plants for my porch yesterday and thought I was going CRAZY--getting bitten and buzzed out there! I will take my large candles with me next time! The greenhouses here are very casual and freely run. The plants are mondo sized and CHEAP! Nearly everything is under 10 bucks. It's downright dangerous for me! lol. QOD: the 4th: We're headed out to a small fishing village that has a gigantic celebration on the 4th. It's a 5 hour drive and then a ferry ride, but I'm told it's worth it, so off we go! Then coming back to a family casual dinner with all Americano food probably--kosher dogs, salad, and whatever else people bring. Tikanas~ I am STRICT about keeping a food diary and try to eat healthy choices; lots of fiber and veggies and VARIETY! I don't eat a huge amount of protein-usually only for dinner-and an occasional egg for brekky. I was weighing in every day at home and then once a week at Weight Watchers, but since I arrived here for the summer, I have not weighed. I probably will cave and buy a house scale and there's a WW place nearby, so I will start weighing in again. I use the scale and book from WW to keep myself accountable to someone! I have lost a large amount of weight since October- about 25 pounds or so. It is a SLOW weight loss (about 2 or 3 ponuds a month), but it's finally staying off and no big fluxuations any more, so I'm finding this to be the way for me to go. Well, we are having a guy DH met over for dinner tonight. He's Korean and homesick, so I am making Korean BBQ, rice, and cabage salad with sesame oil and chili oil.
