Denise I use 1 Tbsp per gallon if I think a plant needs help making some chlorophyll. Is this a lower older leaf, maybe it's not too serious a problem?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the formula. It is an older leaf - one that's more succulent than the newer ones. The plant is very potbound and dries out quickly. I should probably repot, but the plant is so large and I can't really move it without losing leaves... It wanders all over the shelf it's on, poking new leaves into crevices and once they're big, it would mean popping the leaves off to move the plant. I may try to repot it where it sits this summer while my shelves are less full...

The same exact thing happened to my big Hoya carnosa and I ended up having to sacrifice a bunch of leaves that had grown through the wire shelf if was growing on. My problem was that the pot was up high and I tended to water on a schedule which meant that sometimes the potting mix dried right out and was like cement. I ended up moving my plant to a shadier location where it would not dry out quite as fast and now it looks good again. Do you think the brighter light of summer along with higher moisture needs of your pot bound plant could be to blame?
I hope you can get your plant to green up again.

Hi Denise, I feel kind of funny giving you advise. . . I just read about epson salt on another website and followed their reccomendations for using it. 1 tablespoon ES and 1 teaspoon molasses. The ES helps with chlorophyll and the molasses provides sugar which the plants use as energy/vigor to the roots. I did my regular house plants the other day and I swear the next day I could see a huge difference in the color. . . and they had a shine they never had before. I don't know about using it all the time but I think a few times a year would be OK.

I wasn't treating any alments, just curious about the results. I was to scared to try it on my hoyas, but I think I might now. . .
