bright hostas in heavier shade?

I'm going to bite the bullet and plant some hostas under my cedars. It's basically an experiment, no harm done if it doesn't work out. I'd like some suggestions of fairly common (lower cost) hostas that are good growers with little fuss that can maintain a level of brightness in deeper shade. I'll combine the brighter ones with some blues like Elegans and Hadspen Blue. These are going to have to look good from a distance (this won't be a walk through area), so I think med to large sized ones, and maybe some ground cover types might be good? If you happen to have a pic, that's super too...we all love the pics! Along with the hostas, I'm going to plant geranium maccrorhizum that does well on my property.
