Nice going! The only one I have is Best Kept Secret (which really is a true pink for me). Palladian Pink might have to come live here after posting that pic. Peachy or not, I think the Topguns cv is my favorite of the group.

What do you call those very pronounced lines? Not the ribs, I know the name for those! But how the Topguns PL looks like it is quilted? Is it texture? Whatever it is, I end up really liking CV's with that quality.

You got some really pretty ones! I like Palladian Pink best - I love the ruffling/form and the color. I think the term you're looking for that describes Topguns PL's texture is sculpted. Here's a link to it at the Daylily Dictionary.

I have Palladian Pink and it's a really nice one. Saw Gillian blooming on a tour and it was very impressive--it's on my list for next year. Looks like you did very well.

They are all pretty! My fav I think is Topguns PL, but Palladian Pink & Gillian are right in there. Personally, I like the dark eyes/light, especially with a bit of dark edging. You did good! I keep looking to see if there is a local daylily group that I could join, but apparently not :( It would be nice to tour others' gardens in person & chat.

waitforspring - glad to hear you like Palladian - there was a posting by a gardener from Georgia that said it melts in the heat, and we have PLENTY of that, so I planted it in a place where it will only get morning sun - then afternoon shade all day. I guess we'll see how it does!

Very exciting, fairysoapgirl! I think that is wild that seedlings are sold as well as unknowns. The clubs here don't do that. Registered daylilies only.

I am thinking of donating some daylilies to our church's fall festival. I hadn't considered some of my unknowns...but maybe, those might work for some folks.

And, ahem....(just kidding with you)...I believe it was Virginia not Georgia!

I figured for three bucks I couldn't really go wrong. They didn't even have pictures, just descriptions on the tags - and some of them didn't even have that (I didn't buy those, I would be very disappointed with a yellow or orange). They were double fans that had just been dug - so heck, at least they were healthy. I got just a tad excited when they told me they were from a 'local' hybridizer. The only local I could think of was Carpenter - but I am sure for $3, they can't be his... I did email the club to see if they would tell me who's they are.

Wow Fairysoapgirl for that price who cares who the hybridizer is? Ya'll just make me drool everytime you post your pictures. Pink is my very favorite color but with these daylilies a favorite is very hard to choose.

I have finally been adopted and someone is going to share some of their lovely babies with me.Yipppppeeeeee! Maybe next year someone will be drooling over the daylilies I have and then I can adopt a couple of people too.

That's what I love about irises and daylilies. If you like them you go way overboard in getting everyone of them you can put your hands on.

A local chapter of the American Iris Society is having a Iris and Daylily sale the first week in October. Can anyone tell me what the usual prices are at these things? What would you normally expect to have to pay for a daylily at one of these sales?

Someone told me before that sometimes these sales are crazy and if you don't get there early everything will be GONE. This will be my very first sale to attend. Do I need to take a baseball bat with me for protection?

Fairysoapgirl will you email me and tell me more about your label maker the size, tape it takes and the cost? Shoot, you can just post it here if you want to.

As soon as I get the daylilies in the mail from the person who adopted me I'll start making a wish list. Then I'll see what I can find at the sale.

Shoot I may take my laptop with me so I can search and see what they look like before I purchase any.

I finally decided to give up on posting the pictures of the two daylilies I had. I thought about the blonde joke about them making corrections on the screen with whiteout. I was seriously thinking about clipping some pictures out and sticking them to my monitor. Then asking you what you thought about my pictures of daylilies I posted. Then I realized no one would think that was funny but me. (grin)

Three groups for the whole state seems unreal, to me, especially since they are all from the northern part of the state. Marian, our local iris society offers some daylilies also. They usually have their sale in late July & sell everything for $3 ea. I know that isn't a wonderful price on iris, especially since they don't sell any newer than 1990s iris, but I always come away with a few. That is where I have gotten most all of the daylilies & iris I have purchased. Older varieties, but usually get freshly dug double fans. They don't have a lot of daylilies though & you do have to get there early. I think there is only one or 2 iris growers who happen to grow daylilies also & only 3 or 4 varieties are offered. This year I got Golden Scroll, Savannah Debutante, and a seedling. I know I liked what I got last year, but only remember Lady Neva. Good luck at your sale!

Hi Marian - I am glad you got adopted! Sounds like you are off to a good start. The DLs at the local sale here were $3 seedlings, and $5 for most others. There were some that were $10-$20, but none that interested me. I don't know about the iris - I looked, but not at the prices as I was not buying... have enough holes to dig this week with Maryott's, Stamiles and LA buys coming in...

The labelmaker:

Brother Labelmaker P-Touch (PT 2700) - it was midrange on price (~$90) They have others for cheaper, just make sure it has 'thermal print', meaning it is not just ink set on top of the tape - heat has melted it to the plastic. Otherwise that ink most likely won't stay very well in weather.

For the tape, I use:

Brother P-Touch Industrial Series Extra Strength Adhesive Tape, 3/4" wide (18mm)
Black prink on Clear Tape
Item #: TZ-S141
Estimated $: $17-$21

The labelmaker will have a range of sizes of tape that it will take (mine is 9/64" - 1"). Just make sure the tape you buy is in that size range.
