Rebloom pics

I apologize for being absent from the forum for a while. After my daylilies stopped blooming I went into withdrawal and started spending time on the LA and hybridizers websites, just dreaming. Unfortunately I did more than dream. I have about 40 new ones coming soon plus I want to move 50 seedlings to permanent homes. I have spent the last couple of weeks making room for these (NO NEW BEDS), digging the planting holes and ammending the soil. I have 71 holes dug and about 20 seedlings moved. Anyway, the weather was cool and overcast and I just couldn't resist taking a few pictures of some rebloom.

As I was outside today cleaning up daylilies up on the plateau in the back I did notice what I had not noticed before. All those Emmerich intros that are up there that are supposed to have instant rebloom did indeed have instant rebloom as they were double scaped. That means first scapes and second scape right on top of it. Gives for lots of bloom but harder for me to notice as rebloom. You have to follow each scape down into its fan to see if its a two for one or not. I found that easier to do now that there are few flower buds left on most of those scapes. But truely, I just didn't think to look. I looked when scapes started blooming for shorter new scapes coming but mostly didn't see those so thought no rebloom on them. But I was wrong. Problem is that double scaped doesn't extend the length of the season, just gives lots more flowers. I wonder if they will rebloom again the regular rebloom way? Humm, that would be a treat! Now on the Emmeriches planted in the redone veggie bed they are having rebloom but those scapes while big enough to have buds are considerably behind the original scapes. So easier for me to spot. Also there is a Mike Derrow intro up there in the veggie garden, Lunar Empire. Gosh, it has such great branching and big strong scapes. Today I look really closely and there are rebloom scapes on each fan that is currently blooming. Very impressive as there are already tons of buds from the original scapes. I was looking for a great yellow and sure picked the right one when I found Lunar Empire :-)

Ok,looking up in my notes THESE EYES started blooming on June 15th. That is very early for around here although KISSES LIKE WINE beat it blooming because that started on June 11th. I didn't write down when THESE EYES finished blooming but lets say July 5th or so. If it takes two months to rebloom from end of bloom that means Sept 8th or so. Of course the scapes would appear way before that.

Lrae, Thanks for that sweet comment.I really wish I knew the name of this one,but don't have a clue.There is 6 of these daylilies given to me,all of themNO ID. This one also had a prolif I cut off a few days ago,as the scape had turned brown,so now I have it in a pot of dirt trying to get it to root.I seen where roots had just started,I guess,but not enough to really call it roots,to me,so I tried putting it in water first,and it looked like it wasn't going to make it in water,so I fixed up some potting soil with a lot of peralite in it,and now trying to get it to grow roots in that.Hope it works. Jan. Thanks,i thought sure the deer would destroy ny DL,but its come on beautifully. Tom, I really don't care for this Buttered Popcorn,but if it makes a big clump I will probably like it better.Don't care for the form on it,or yellow either.But I do like yours,its pretty. Maryl, No I have not had a drop of rain here in over 6 weeks,Storms get close,then just go around here.The ground is like cement, too. Rick....there you are...what's been happening....special project keeping you busy? ;-) Rita....I'll be leaving on the 13th for a couple of weeks, so I'm sure I'll probably miss some of my rebloom. I certainly wasn't expecting to still be getting any when I planned my trip. LOL Going up to PA and stay with my DH for a few weeks. We're going to take our ATV's up into the Allegheny National Forest and do some camping and riding. Hopeing to see some fall color while I'm up there and plan on doing lots of photography too. But, I'll post the photos I can get prior to leaveing. :) Jan

Great pictures. Mine are drying up in the garden..

It does one good to see that someone still has blooms.

I don't think I've seen Autumn Wood that dark before.

Keep em coming as long as they bloom.

Wow Ann your pictures are a knockout. I have another flower coming on Cosenza tomorrow, my only one left. I never had lilies blooming in Sept before. It is sooooo nice today with the high in the 70's.
Your first picture is simply stunning with the flowers in the background matching the eye.

Great photos Ann, love WOY. I grow the other two also. Your AW looks beautiful as does MM, which is always a fav in my garden. Thanks for the blooms...I'm missing the last few reblooms on mine, since I'm in PA on vacation, but that's ok, my DH and I are having a great time. :)

Thanks, everyone. Tom, I took a picture of Autumn Wood on Saturday before the temperatures moderated and the color was much lighter. Thanks, Dot for noticing the celosia with Way Over Yonder. I would like to say I planned it that way, but the celosia is a volunteer. Jan, have a wonderful time with hubby - that is so much more important than a few daylily blooms. Thanks again, Chirs, for WOY - it is so lovely, but the last of 6 rebloom scapes is on its way out - just a couple more blooms. It has been amazing.

Thanks for the photos of AUTUMN WOOD and MOONLIT MASQUERADE! I just love both of those. Neither rebloomed for me this year. They usually do. It's good to see them reblooming for you.

Love your pictures. That duo of Moonlit Masquerade is an absolute stunner. It looks so perfect, like they were a painting instead of a photo. Love it!

I got Moonlit Masquerade myself last year really because of the lovely pictures posted by Debra. Mine didn't do much this year. Am hoping next year will be better.

hmmm, still haven't gotten MM yet. Maybe in the spring :-).
Could AW be darker because of your soil? I've heard but not experienced yet that sometimes with alot of rain the soil PH changes causing some DL's to bloom deeper in color. Not sure if this fact or fiction.

Thanks for posting. We are definitely nearing the end. Still got a couple going and Siloam Little Girl sent up a new scape so waiting for it to bloom. Temps changed back down again after the storm so we are back in the high 60's today. Great gardening weather.
