I love them! Are those bluebirds? They sure look happy in their kiddie pool. Great picture!

oh how sweet, Love the piture Julia.Are they bluebirds?I have never seen a BLuebird, only in pictures, we have plenty BLUE JAYS here but no blue birds, that I have seen.

Congrats! We were finished with kids after our 2 girls, but likewise the Lord blessed us with an unexpected son too :-) And he has been a blessing indeed, had I known what it would be like then we wouldn't have been so quick to stop at 2! My suggestion would be to get a little splash pool to set up next to the big pool and when he's old enough start him on swim lessons. Before you know it you won't need the splash pool anymore. Logan is 5 and can't touch unless he is standing right at the shallow edge of the pool, but he has been taking lessons for 3 years and is incredibly comfortable in the water. He doesn't need to touch bottom, he just swims all over the place.

I've installed probably 10 automatic pool covers, all being the Coverpools brand, and never had the option to go "extra strength." Maybe their standard one is already much more sturdy than your brand? Not too sure, but we put 20-40lbs of coping material in the cover trays and even 200lb+ men can stand on ours.

Thank you, everyone. The person I talked to is my uncle. We have very limited contact, but he's still family. He's done pools for 30 years. He's done a few of the Houston Texans' yards, a couple Astros, etc. I'm thinking since he only does custom work, that might be why it's so expensive. Also, the house we were originally looking at was inside the loop, or inner city, which added permit costs and a host of other things. I think I'm going to look into a fiberglass pool, though. I want a simple square with a waterfall. I've already started drawing out what I want, so I can take it to pool builders.

Thanks - I will check out the LVP low voc. I am also wondering what even more natural options may be (e.g. no plastics) The future water would be from the traffic from our pool (you can enter/exit the pool area from the basement). We have now replaced the sump pump & installed alarms / backup. (obviously it could happen again, but the chance is less). I don't expect the water from the pool to be massive, but then again my kids are small. Maybe when they're 10 years old and they have tons of friends over there will be puddles.

Yes, Bluebirds. I noticed this summer they weren't around as much after our spring and then over the past couple of weeks, they've showed up again in full force.
They can splash up a storm when they all get in there.

aw; that is so sweet.I love watching little birds taking their bath.I did have a birdbath but, it fell over and came apart.I may see about putting it back together, but have no idea where I canput it so it would have some shade and water not get too hot.Love your pictures.

Just love the pictures--we are having bluebirds return now. They seem to go away when the weather gets really hot, and then show up again when fall starts. I want to get a fountain and put it in the swimming pool garden, but it would have to be covered because of the heat--something to think about. The birds must really enjoy yours with the water coming out like that. Avedon

Love them! We usually have several nestings in our bluebird house, but had only one this year. They are such beautiful birds.

Glad you all enjoyed the pics.
One of my sisters never saw one either till they visited this past weekend. See was amazed at the blue coloring.

We have some birds with blue feathers here too, people call them blue jays

Great picture. I've never seen a bluebird in person. There aren't any around here. The birds must love that fountain. I know how much they enjoy their baths.
