This is one that will need to be pinched back if you want to encourage branching. I would also take some more cuttings this spring if you still have the mother plant.

I just wasn't sure and would have liked to avoided pinching back the tips if they self branched on their own.
Yep, I will be taking a few more cuttings from the mother to make the pot a little more fuller as well.

Billy Rae, don't just pinch back, you can use the cutting from what you cut back, just put it in the pot to add a new plant. I find this applies to H. lobbii also, it's the same kind of growth.

Wrong choice of words, I meant to write "cut back" not pinched back.
Yes, the two I cut back will be added to the pot they are in now, plus, some extra cuttings from Mama.

I also wondered this about certain cuttings I have. Some of my hoyas are only 1 or 2 single cuttings, and I was thinking I would have to cut the stem when it gets longer to root the cutting in order to make a fuller plant. So are you saying that most hoyas can grow new branches out of the soil? To name a specific hoya, I have a single cutting of H. Anulata that is growing nicely and I'm hoping I don't have to cut it to make it fuller. Same with Compacta...I only have one branch.

Not branching out of the soil, but branching off the main stems of the cuttings. For instance, H. laconosa branches OK for me, but I still want to cut off a few more cuttings and fill in any bare spots.
I don't know about anulata and how well it branches, if at all. Compacta is not really a good, or fast "brancher"
I was given an 8" cuttings of compacta a few years back and cut it right in half and rooted the cut piece back into the same pot.

I guess when you see a hoya that just keeps getting longer and longer without branching off the stem, then I would cut back, something I will have to do to my one stemmed bella. (I really hate to cut that one)
Oh well, I guess I just have to think about the outcome, a nice "Full" plant someday!

I got a small polyneura this fall and it has yet to do a thing. I'm assuming it's a seasonal/spring-summer grower?

Many plants as you know slow down in the winter months, but this one doesn't seem to be the fastest grower even in the summer months either, at least not for me, but at least the cuttings root easily, so I guess it's kinda like a trade off.

Soon the weather will be warm again and we can all go out and buy more plants/hoyas, lol.
