Hi,

Old peduncles on multiflora sometimes fall off after blooming once. If it is healthy and growing new leaves/peduncles, then I wouldn't worry. The only thing I'm wondering about is why the new peduncles are slightly brown/yellow at the tips. Make sure you keep the soil very moist...it's a water guzzler. Also, I'd keep it in direct sunlight - that is where mine is (in eastern exposure...so it gets full morning sun). It blooms non-stop in that location. Don't worry about causing root rot - keep it moist but make sure it's in chunky fast draining mix. Yes, I think you should cover up the exposed roots with soil.

I'm not sure about keeping it in a dish of water, but it benefits from a pebble tray. That is to say (if you haven't heard) a saucer w/ pebbles & seat the pot on top of the pebbles. Then add water (or let it overflow from watering) so that the water level is just below the bottom of the pot.

That is to say that the pot is sitting just ABOVE, not in the water (avoids the rot problem).

Otherwise, I think all the above advice is excellent & Gabi has shown her beautiful Multiflora on here, so she really knows this one.

In the summer months, when I kept mine in the GH, I'd have to water it every couple of days. Now I keep it in the house - I typically water it twice a week in summer, once a week in winter now. It really does drink water like crazy... If you're seeing roots at the surface, I would probably repot it into a bigger pot if you can. When they're pushing them up, that usually means there is absolutely no more room for roots in the pot.

And I wouldn't worry too much about the attempts at flowering yet. When it's ready to bloom, it'll go nuts, trust me. Mine is budding up again now, and it's the middle of winter! It seems to go through heavy blooming cycles about 3 times a year for me.
