Pug I would keep it sealed. If you saw how steamy my Hoya rooting tank is you would faint but still 100% success rate. LOL I have my Hoya imbricata and Hoya hyplosia rooting in a plastic storage container similar to yours that has a piece of plexiglass as a top and I am concerned that there is not enough humidity so I mist the cuttings every day. I would much rather have them in the heated and very humid aquarium/rooting chamber but it is completely full right now. As long as you have enough light then the cuttings can take the humidity but if it gloomy and wet in there you can run into problems. The David Liddle order for Eastern Canada was shipped today so I will have eight more Hoyas hopefully by the end of the week or early next week. I don't quite know where I will be rooting those cuttings but I am excited none the less. I think I need a greenhouse. Mike

Anne I did get it. Yesterday I snail mailed Jack a copy of my import permit along with a sheet of U.S.D.A. issued shipping labels. I had a feeling after leaving the P.O. that the amount I was charged was not enough. I bought a roll of packing tape and the postage for the envelope to Thailand and it came to just under $4.00 the tape itself was $3.50. I knew from experience that even mailing envelopes abroad it does cost more than what I was charged. As it turns out the clerk didn't bother to look at the envelope to see where it was going and there wasn't enough postage on it so in today's mail,guess what I got back!!!! Now I have to take it back to the P.O. tomorrow for more postage and get it mailed out again. That could have been done today but I was lazy and just got around to getting out to check the mail and the P.O. closed a half hour ago!!

Oh man. I wish I could send everyone blashernaezii magic, too. I'm a big believer in the "strong cutting" b/c sometimes I can't figure out any other logic for it b/c I know I'm not giving it anything you aren't. I do think that blashernaezii likes to dry out more than siariae, even though they look like they'd like the same to me. My blashernaezii is roughing it in a severe western exposure that's a bit of a sink or swim environment. blaeshernaezii = swim diversifolia = sink pottsii chiang mai = sink pachyclada = swim aff. picta = sink panchoi = sink carnosa 'lime green' = sink amoena = swim variegated acuta = swim d. burma = swim d. nummularia = swim d. geri = swim juanngoiana = swim densifolia = swim australis ssp sanae = swim buotii = swim balaensis 'sukrin narathival' = sink loheri = swim picta = sink I'm going to move everything below that I've labeled as 'sink' because they look weaker since I moved them here (although still in good shape). Sometimes it's surprising what plants like. I wouldn't have called these results. I'm not going to read too much into it, but I'm not going to take too many risks either.

I find 'Iris Marie' to be a good grower, too. I would go ahead and move it up to a little larger pot (not a big jump, of course...) so it can be settled in the new pot and ready to grow by next spring. My experience is repotting sometimes halts growing for a period, sometimes a whole season, so doing it now will ensure it grows next spring. Denise in Omaha
