Blooms from the past few days

KEEP ON TRUCKIN was a bonus I received back in June that is reblooming. It has a very large, very bright bloom.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS - the last bloom

AUGUST CHERRY - This is the first time it's bloomed all the way into August.

Others still blooming today were Final Touch, Bermuda Coral, Kentucky Lucky, Antique Nouveau, Cool Hand Luke, Ethel Buccola, Purple Corn Dancer, and Indian Ripple.

In between flooding rains, I've been digging some clumps and giving them to friends. I put the soil and mulch back in this spot and Columbus thought I'd made a new napping place just for her.

I really like Keep on Truckin'. How tall is it? August Cherry is a beautiful shade of red. I don't have it, but I'm guessing that it probably blooms in August most of the time in Massachusetts where it was hybridized.

Columbus knows that recently dug soil and all those pine needles makes a nice soft bed!

Isn't your photo of We Are the Champions, one that Davisson said reminded her of College Colors? We Are the Champions here has been a bit erratic in its form this first year. I'm not sure what I think of it.

I have always thought Darius deserves more attention than he gets, a nice dependable daylily. It is rather a cat enabling forum, isn't it, Christine? I have to say, most of my cats have found me. Miss Grumpy above (one of the nicer names we call her :) came into our yard as a kitten. Roady's unfortunate full name is Roadkill-I stopped in the middle of a 4 lane road in morning traffic to grab him by the tail before he ran into traffic. He was crouched on the yellow stripe. The 13 year old that died last spring was a parking lot kitten that came home with me. I've been thinking I need another kitten, but I don't really want a new cat to stress the old one. She had a stroke last year, recovered much better than I expected, but still a bit wobbly.

Mantis I have not seen Ocean Roar. I saw it listed relatively cheap on the LA and won it for under $20.00. TMBA has only been in the ground since August of 2014, so I really can't speak to its plant habit. It is registered at 27 inches, but mine bloomed at 12 inches. I too grow many of Petit's intros and have been satisfied with his older intros. His newer intros, particularly with the gaudy edges, just don't seem to hold up throughout the day. It seems that the substance has gone into the edge at the expense of the petal. WRITTEN ON THE WIND has the same issues. Blooms in the foliage, has a good edge, but don't touch the petal as it seems to melt and tear when I touch it. David

Bob, I live in Upstate NY, Zone 5 - about 45 minutes south of Julia (I think she is zone 6 because of her proximity to one of the Finger Lakes). I received EMERALD STARBURST in a trade last fall. I potted it up and sunk the pot in my vegetable garden. It survived the winter and of the five fans, I have 3 scapes. Each bloom looks like the one posted. I grow nothing like, so it is my favorite at the moment. I also managed to obtain ROSE F. KENNEDY and I can't wait to see that one bloom. ADORABLE TIGER was obtained this past spring, so I can't comment on its vigorousness. I have heard that it is a slow increaser. When one has limited space, a slow increaser is ok = less digging. awww, Columbus looks so cute napping in that ready made spot, (just for her) I love COLLEGE COLORS. hat is so pretty. and also kEEP ON RUVKING is pretty.AUGUST CHERRY is a very pretty red, too.

Val - Keep On Truckin is registered at 30 inches. I have it growing in a pot, and the scapes are only about 22 inches. I imagine they would be much taller if the the plant were in the ground and settled in a bit.

Mantis - You are right. That is We Are the Champions. I have a bad sinus infection and my brain must not be working quite right. I don't think its flower fits a form. But I like it in all its incarnations. By the way, I got much better bud count on it the second year and much taller scapes.

what interesting colors together on the Champion flower. I like Cayenne the best. cute red. :)

I'm liking the yellow/golds today, especially Keep on Truckin. I'm usually not a fan of gold daylilies unless they're the only things blooming, and then I really like them. At this time of year, I would think it's a very welcome bloom. Is it regularly a late bloomer, or is it off schedule because it's a newbie?

Chris - Keep On Truckin is registered as an EM bloomer. I would think it would normally rebloom earlier than this.

Keep on Trucking is a gorgeous color. I like it very much. I like August cherry too.

Columbus is a cute cat, in a very cat-like occupation. Lying in the daylily bed.

If it ever cools off any here I will be moving out some too.

Keep on Trucking is a very pretty yellow, I also like August Cherry, how nice it is blooming according to its name :) And my favorite today is Miss Goldie!
Columbus is so cute napping on a new mulch bed :) And wow, you got rain again! Flooding is not good, but rain is. We got only one rain in July, nothing since.

Kay - It does seem like snoozing is part of a cat's occupation. LOL

Nat - We had a lot more rain than normal. My area got 5-7 inches on Thurday, and we've had brief showers almost every day last week.

Cats always win in the "love 'em" catagory and Columbus is no exception. Don't you love the company in the garden!.........I almost have to echo Nates comments. The Golden Yellow of Keep On Trucking catches my eye, as does August Cherry.....Maryl
