Murraya (curry leaf) demoralization

I have two Murraya koenigii (curry leaf) plants that I purchased as seedlings a few years ago, and that are now about two feet tall and scrawny. They're outdoors all summer, and in a grow room or greenhouse for the winter. A friend just stopped by and mentioned he'd stayed overnight in a motel, "apparently run by Indians," who had a couple of lush, tall curry leaf plants they use for cooking. What's the secret?!

are you letting it dry out between waterings? It likes it warm and tropical, but to dry out between waterings. In your zone, I'd probably stick it in full sun. Cut way back on watering in the winter.

I also live in NY and my trees are large and very healthy....they are producing huge ripe seeds right now that germinate quickly. Just a few tips....
Suppliment with extra lighting in winter...fertilize with 30-10-10 at half strength every other week during the summer and one time per month @ 1/3 strength during winter months.
Soil should consist primarily of peat moss and perlite or vermiculite.
Mist the whole plant often with plain water and keep soil moist but not wet (need good draining type soil).

I have 5 little trees (3 - 4 foot) that I take outside in the summer and back inside in the winter. I like Indian food so I use the leaves. They are not making seeds yet this year, but it's gotten really really hot here so the probably will. The seeds I originally got I ordered online from somewhere in Hawaii, they all grew too.

Manzanitacrow, you can try posing in the plant exchange forum to request a seedling. I got my seedling from a coworker. He told me that there are tons of seedlings around his mother plant. The unfortunate thing is that my plant does not seem to grow at all. I transplanted it in the ground and it still has not done much for the whole summer. I have to soon dig it up and overwinter in the house in a pot.
