Blooms around the Garden today

August really is a slowdown for blooms but I guess it depends on what you are looking at. Did at least have some daylilies blooming.

I took the two pictures of WILD CHERRY ROUNDUP today a few seconds apart. When I looked at the downloaded pictures I was very surprised to see the color difference on the two pictures. First looks very pink and the bloom is not really that pink, much more the salmon color of the second picture. I would love it if it was the color of the first picture!

ENDURING FREEDOM has been reblooming. What surprises me is the color difference from flower to flower each day. Most are this lighter raspberry color but sometimes I get a darker flower. Really strange.

Last flower on VICTORIANA which really has outdone itself with a fabulous show. As its new this year, I can only immagine that it would do even better next year.

The bees love the Summersweet that has been blooming. It smells really great, well named.

Roses in front yard have been blooming off and on.

New York Ironweed attracts lots of butterflies and bees.

I like Sunflowers. I plant them every year. The Goldfinches love to come and eat the seeds. I got a picture of this one before they started on it.

Fall must be on the way as the Viburnam berries are turning red.

What pretty pictures Rita! I love that Wild Cherry Roundup! I am not familiar with the Summersweet, but it is very pretty as are all of them

Very nice pics, Rita.
I notice your DL foliage still looks green & healthy. Many of my clumps are drying out because of the hot winds we get here.
Thanks for sharing the other photos too. You just can't beat Viburnums for four-season interest!

ladypat- The lily bulb with daylilies bed was a new idea I got this spring. I have that row of Serviceberry shrubs which are the backdrop. Then theres a row of old Mary Todd yellow daylilies in front of the shrubs. My first idea was to plant more rows of daylilies in front but I am also crazy about bulb lilies so I decided to put in some rows of lily bulbs there also and finish off with more daylilies. That stringline was so I could get that front row of daylilies in straight. Then I have more daylilies comeing for the last row in front so I have to use the stringline again. Then I will put some edging pavers to finish off that garden bed. I put over 120 lily bulbs in there so it should be quite the show. Used Trumpets, Asiatics and some fancy hybrids. trailrunner- I think you are talking about the Bayer 3 in one. You don't need it. Only treat for insects if there is a big problem, not just because. Fertilizer is better off added as you need it and not overdosed with the spraying. All you need and all I use is the fungicide. Its Bayer Desease Control for Roses and it should be sprayed everytwo weeks.

Judy, I buy the glamini Glads from Van Bourgondien, which is a bulb company. I used to buy lots of lilies there too but found they have a really bad rep so don't buy much there. But it is the only place I have found that have the Glamini Glads. But never any problems with the glads so don't be afraid to buy. Kay, the cleome is a newer type that does not have seeds like the old ones. Not as tall either and never stops blooming. This was the first year I had it but I do really love it. Debra, those black eyed susans are ones that self sowed from other annual types I had in my garden last year. Then I bought those POW WOW WILD BERRY Coneflowers new this spring and have been totally, totally impressed with them. Unlike the other types of coneflowers I have that have a bloom season and then quit, these started blooming and then just never, ever stopped blooming. Fantastic. Honestly anyone that likes coneflowers should try this one. Nancy, I don't even know what aconitum is LOL! Jean and honalee, thanks. It has really been a fabulous year in the garden here for me. I am amazed that it is still this green as of now. Thanks, everyone. It is still relatively nice here. Especially since it is already November.

Rita do you recall what the last lily is in your last photo,looks as if peach colored. I have one I think is similiar and lost the tag. I love everything about it. List what it is and name if you recall I hope some day soon to have lilies like you. Just beautiful.

Lovely photos! I like both photos of WILD CHERRY ROUNDUP. And the sunflower made me smile. I have Indian Summer rudbeckia still blooming, and my husband always calls those my sunflowers. Yesterday was the first day since the end of May that I haven't had some daylilies blooming. A few rebloom scapes are coming, so there will be blooms again in early September.

Its a very tall plant. Over 6 feet in my garden. It flops over so you can't really tell how tall it is. I cut it back after flowering to a more manageable size.

Debra- I will be happy when you have some rebloom so that you can post more of your wonderful pictures.

Julie- It seems to me that my daylily folliage is ratty looking. Not the nice deep green it was all spring and early summer until just after bloom. Of course the fact that the leaves are mostly split and shredded from that hail we had afew weeks back doesn't help. Am getting alot of new growth so maybe the fans will get all nice and green again by fall.

wow, Rita, you still have lots of pretty blooms.Love that WILD CHERRY ROUNDUP and ENDURING FREEDOM,too.That big sunflower is really pretty.I use to grow them every year too,and squirrels would eat the seeds before I got a chance to injoy them,and they broke the stalks,too.Thaat NY ironweed looks to be very tall,but I love the color of it.Love Purple's.Your roses looks so healthy and nice, too.Deer ate mine up.I was spraying them to keep the deer from eating them,and all this rain washed it off and the deer was out eating them.They stripped all the leaves off and every bud and bloom,so now all I have in roses is bare canes.,except for a few I have inside a fenced front yard,and they look pitiful too.

No deer here, thank goodness. Plenty of them out in Suffolk county but none here in Nassau county were I am, hurray!

Great pics Rita. I will have to get Wild Cherry Roundup, it looks sooooo pretty. You still have lots of color in your garden. We haven't had rain here in weeks and things are not lookin' to good in many of my beds. Nice to see that someones garden is still looking so green.
