3 New Ones, a Rebloom and a Butterfly

I've had three daylily's with ffo's this week. I don't remember ever having ffo's in August before. I'm sure the milder temps and all the rain this summer have played a role.

ROCK SOLID - This one arrived with scapes when delivered this spring. The first scapes died, so this is rebloom.

INDIGO BUNTING - The same thing happened with this one. The original scape died, and this is a rebloom scape.

DELIGHTFUL DESIGN - I've had this one for three years. I don't know why it took so long to bloom. It's a nice Joiner ML double.

SHORES OF TIME is having some gorgeous rebloom.

RUBY LIPSTICK had its last bloom yesterday. I couldn't resist posting it. This one bloomed for 7 weeks and two days on one set of scapes.

Butterfly on Royal Red Butterfly Bush. I have a lot more butterflies than daylilies now.

Beautiful. I think Indigo Bunting is my favorite, but Shores of Time is always beautiful. thanks.

I love ROCK SOLID.Its just gorgeous, but all of them is very pretty.SHORES OF TIME is really a beauty, too. I love Butterfly bushes.I had a purple one a few years ago, but lost it.Don't remember why,now,but plan to some day get another one..

Oh my! I recognize the word debris! My husband and I talked after Katrina about how we never used that word except after a hurricane! And when I think of hurricanes, the first thing that comes to mind is the endless sound of chain saws. I'll never forget Hurricane Elena, when we still lived in Gulfport. Somebody in our neighborhood already had his chain saw going before the storm was even over! My neighbor here gave me a funny look when she saw how much things had "grown up" at my house. I'm not going to give up on trees, no matter how many hurricanes go through here. Who would want to live in a treeless world? Sherry

Very pretty. You are reminding me that 'Adamas' is on my wants list. Stamile's daylilies always do wonderful for me. I have heard some people in this region say to avoid them and that they won't winter through. I have not found that to be the case yet. Before buying the more expensive ones I asked Pat if he'd had feedback from the north on them. He was great about giving recommendations. My 'Blushing Octopus' is on its 3rd flush of bloom this season and so is 'Stick Figure'. Both of them were new to me this spring and settled in like nothing happened to them at all let alone a transplant.

Debra, those are Red Vinca,, they are annuals, and a few purple verbena is mixed in it too but cant see them hardly any more. Mantis,I wouldn't dream of sending this heat your way, but, I wish some cooler tempsw ould come this way.temp was 96 here today but felt like 100. weather man said,and I don't doubt it for a second Nancy,z6 secret friend has been here I think 4 years and hasn't multiplied at all here, plan to repot it in a differen t potting mix about sept, and see if it will do better next season.When I moved,I dug itup and pottd it with the soil it was in, so maybe it will do batter next year, I had poor soil where it was at, and the soil he r e is worse.cant make a hole in this soil with a hatchet, as I tried that,

Debra, I am going to mimic Jean because ROCK SOLID and SHORES OF TIME are the ones that caught my eye as well. Love the butterfly photo too...how can you go wrong with pretty blooms and pretty bugs?

I have alot of butterflies on my Butterfly Bush also. I love RUBY LIPSTICK and SHORES OF TIME looks stunning. Mine never even bothered to bloom. Not last year, not this year. Getting very annnoyed at that.

Kay - I was a little disappointed with Indigo Bunting. The older Lambertsons I have are much better.

Jean - I'm sorry you lost your purple butterfly bush. I lost a Pink Delight butterfly bush during our drought. But I have three others.

Julie - You are right. Beautiful blooms and bugs are a plus!

Rita - I wonder what's wrong with your Shores of Time? Maybe you need to move it, like you did with those others that weren't performing. I hate that you didn't get blooms on that one. It's such a delight here.

Ruby Lipstick just shot up to the top of my want list--7 plus weeks of bloom and its beautiful. That's my kind of daylily.

Debra- It was in the batch moved last August due to not doing well in old location. Now those were all put up in the second row of the plateau. Fixed up most of them as at least they bothered to bloom and some did really well. But PARROT JUNGLE and SHORES OF TIME both did not bloom, new location or not. Since I am redoing that plateau, things are getting moved again. Will just see what happens.

Debra, I just love the butterflies. I have been away but since I've been back, I've seen lots of the beautiful winged beauties. Speaking of beauties, I have always loved SOT. It's a good preformer here too!! Ruby Lipstick is my choice of these though because I don't have that one. Ellie

RUBY LIPSTICK and SHORES OF TIME are beautiful. And RL is at the top of my wish list, too. I've only grown one or two Benz daylilies. Are they good performers for you?
