Cowboy, Everytime I look at your pictures I add more to my must have list. This time it was Blazing Saddles. Also, what is that small varigated one in front of Big John? I'm a sucker for the margin varigated ones.

I also always find one or two that are doing SO much better than mine that I try to think "where will I move it now in order to make it grow? For instance, below is Ebb Tide. Last summer was it's thrid year. Where is the margin? Should I just pretend it's not suppose to have one? It did about double in size from the year before but is nothing like your beauty.

Iron Gate Delight is in front of Big John. Who is in the top, right corner behind your Ebb Tide?

My Ebb Tide gets morning Sun and has always had the edge. Maybe you could ask about your Ebb Tide's edge on the main Discussion board. Someone there may have insight as to whether it will eventually get the edge.

The edges of Ebb Tide, Satisfaction, Liberty, Montana Aureomarginata and Magic Fire are favorites of mine.

Ebb Tide and Satisfaction were purchased from a local nursery in '06. They sold their Hostas for $6 a Hosta or 4 for $20. The catch was most of the Hostas had crispy edges and slug holes; they also had huge roots.

Here are two photos of Abiqua Moonbeam purchased from that nursery about the same time as Ebb Tide and Satisfaction. I didn't get a photo right when Abiqua Moonbeam was planted, but you can see the new growth without the slug holes. How about the plant the following year?

No six month photos until after Christmas for me, I don't know what I was doing not to get photos for about a week back in June.

My Ebb Tide is the same age as yours I guess 2006. Papou said it might get the edge later, I hope. I've had mine in sun - mid-day too but it didn't do much. We'll see this year. I have Abiqua Moonbeam to and like it very much. I have high hopes for Gemini Moon which is newer but shows great promise. I got Sergent Pepper at the end of this year. That is one with a very wide edge too.

The plant beside Ebb Tide at the top right is Li'l Abner. It was one of those really wonderful surprises this year. It's very different and changes through the summer. I'll be posting an early picture of it that was taken June 20.

Is your Iron Gate Delight streaked? I got one that was labled Iron Gate Delight a couple years ago. I read that the Iron Gate Delight was streaked and Iron Gate Glamour was stable. I renamed mine and have been calling it Iron Gate Glamour. Here's a couple pictures. It's on the lowest level of the west side - hot - hot sun. It holds up really well as you can see by the Sept. picture. There are a couple of ratty margins but you should see Diana Remembered just a short distance away.

My Iron Gate Delight isn't streaked and I have been unsure of the name. Is it Iron Gate Delight or Iron Gate Glamour? The Hosta Handbook says Iron Gate Delight is streaked but the photos on the Hosta Library aren't streaked and the description in MyHostas.net doesn't say streaked. Since I purchased it as Iron Gate Delight I keep calling it that. I may start calling it 'Iron Gate Delight-Glamour??'. It does grow well and yours looks great especially being in that much Sun.

I checked the Hosta Library and both Gemini Moon And Sergeant Pepper both look like they need to go on the wish list.

Cowboy,and Myrle,here is a pic of my Iron Gate Delight. This is an old pic,but it still looks like this. I also have Iron Gate Glamour,and they look somewhat alike,but IGG has a narrower margin. Phil

You know Phil, you are probably right. I think these plants must be pretty close in looks. I was going by the handbook which said the "Glamour" was the stable one and the others are streaked. Oh well, it's a great plant no matter which way you look at it. I see it is compared to So Sweet which has been wonderful for me.
