WANTED: Spring fever setting in!

Hello All,

I cannot wait for spring and am trying to get a jump on trading. I would like to only make a couple of large trades if possible and set them up for the first week in May. If anyone is interested look thru my list and look for the ** for tradeable varieties. If they are not marked with an ** then they are two small to trade and I am letting them grow for a couple of seasons before I start hacking into them. I am easy to trade with and will send out good size plants and would appreciate the same in trade.

Hi! Tim, I think we traded hostas last year. I see sme on your list that we do not have, and also some on your wish list. We have had a strange winter, so we need to see what will be available when they come up. If you think you might like to trade again let us know. We do not have the info from last year down here with us, but we will be home later in March. Let us hear if you are interested in trading again. Betty

PV It's amazing how you created your own Garden of Eden in The "City"! Oh i'm there with you. . . .I'm practically INSANE right now. Can't STAND it, sick of staring at computer screens, I want to go bring the brugs out (those that are still SURVIVING) and get them into the sun. . .real heat. . .warmth. . . so sick of cold, wet. . . Everything naked, no leaves. . .dirty grey from the salt. . .muddy. . . Grrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . .gotta haul another load of water out to the green room and slosh some more water around, and cull the dead cuttings making space for more. . . So ready for spring. . .

Then a tree-form crape myrtle probably would do just fine there. I'm linking the website of Crape Mytle Trails of McKinney (Texas) because they have photos and/or descriptions of many crape myrtle varieties. There's not many crape myrtles that get 30 to 40' tall but I've seen a few in the deep south that I'm pretty sure exceeded 20' and likely were around 30'. Redbuds can get that tall, are deciduous, and bloom in early spring, but they often have issues with foliar disease during periods of high humidity. The native ones seem to tolerate occasional standing water on our property as do the native persimmons. The persimmon flowers are not very showy but the fall foliage is lovely. Out here in the country, something often strips them of their foliage in spring so it is unsightly but grows back quickly. I have no first-hand knowledge of the root systems of any of them.
